    RLHphoto's 1980 Honda CM400T build

A kind of somber update. Wednesday I crashed my Cm. Some kid pulled out in front of me and I didn't have time to stop. I was only going 20mph but it was enough to end the CM. Not mad about the bashed up hand or the broken ribs. More upset about my bike. I just got her back running...

Looking great so far man. FYI, painting the wheels makes a HUGE difference. If you are looking at doing yours, you won't be disappointed. Never cared for how comstars look stock.

    1980 CM400 cafe'ish style

Bike died on me before I could go test fit the tank. Once I get it sorted out, I'll let you know how it works out. Maybe I'll get a knowledge base of what tanks fit the CM. There are more questions than knowledge about these bikes I've found. We are just starting to get a lot more answers now.

    1980 CM400 cafe'ish style

CB400T is a direct replacement. I have a friend coming over tonight to try out his CX500 tank because the part number for the cushions on the CX and CM are the same from honda. We'll see how that goes, lol

Advice on Forks for a BSA scrambler/Street tracker

This might help some https://www.allballsracing.com/index.php/forkconversion If you look for a bike that has a comparable weight to your own, that should help too.

    1980 CM400 cafe'ish style

Out of curiosity, did you try fitting the CL/CB350 tank before or after modifying the tank posts? Looks like it went on perfectly. Been looking up tank options for my CM400.

Like I said before, they are a little pricey, but damn if they don't do good work. I got my order with in 3 days, but then again, I'm in NC, they are in FL.

    RLHphoto's 1980 Honda CM400T build

Seeing as I can't leave well enough alone, I picked up a 1983 CM450C to Frankenstein some stuff. The plan? Ride my Cm400t for now, as it runs with little issues. Pull the Cm450 motor, and rebuild it. Put it in the CM400t to enjoy, and then start working on the CM450 frame to get it the way I...

1980 CM400, my first attempt at a cafe bike.

Should not be any harder than replacing header bolts on a car. They are a two way screw. If you get lucky, the screw may come out when you are taking the nut off (a few did when I removed the exhaust from my CB550 a few weeks back). If not, get something to clamp down on them really tight and...

1980 CM400, my first attempt at a cafe bike.

Re: 1980 CM400, my first attempt at a cafe bike. 1) I got a pretty nice set from Viet here on DTT. Haven't put them on yet, but build quality looks great. 2) Dime City has a ton of stuff, worth checking out. They can be a little pricey at times, but it is, if nothing else, a good starting...

Welcome to the CM family. Looks like you already have a CB400t tank too!

Congrats, now time for a beer

Engine dle speed too slow. Why?

I'd say bad gaskets first. Especially if it is fluctuating. A bad boot would just cause one side to die out.

    Rlhphoto's 1974 Honda CL360 project

So a few months back I picked up a bike from a friend who was having a nightmare of a time getting it running right. Given the price I was like "Why the fuck not". So I cleaned it up a bit, replaced the coils like he said was the problem and while out the bike caught fire. At the time I...

Engine dle speed too slow. Why?

If you close the throttle, and it still hangs in an RPM range, that screams vacuum leak in the carbs to me.

Engine dle speed too slow. Why?

Sounds like there is still gunk somewhere. Question though, how well does the throttle come back on it's own when you open it up? Like if you pull the throttle back closed manually, does it still like to hang up high in the RPM range? Also, have you made any mods, like removal of the air box...

Engine dle speed too slow. Why?

All electric ignition system. Single coil driven by a CDI. Not much on adjusting the ignition timing unless the CDI took a crap.
