    Intermittently Rough

I sold my 71 T250 and I am ready for my next project. I am going to look at a 1982 Virago 750. It had 18,000 original miles, but the owner says that it runs rough intermittently. That is, it runs smooth, then get rough, then gets smooth again on its own. All I can think of is...

    Too Much Technology

I wrote an article, recently, for Revzilla's "Common Tread" online magazine asking: "How much tech is too much on your motorcycle?" I expected some, if not most, readers to appreciate technological advancements. However, I was surprised that there were quite a few readers who vehement me, one or...

I am considering installing and Acewell 1550T multi-function instrument setup on my 1979 CB400 T1. The T1 has no tach and I want to change the look anyway. Has anyone here done a swap to an electronic gauge setup, specifically an Acewell on an old Honda? I am looking for tips, cautionary tales...

CB400T throttle cables and low bars.

I have tried to run low bars on my 79 CB400T with limited success. My cables are so long, the lowest I can run are lower rise dirt bike bars. I have tried alternative routing, but the are still too long to allow the push cable to close the throttle. My bike came with fairly high bars like high...

What I did on my vacation - a Dime City story

I just got back to my home in PA from a Florida vacation. Last Wednesday, I picked up my rented Indian Scout (I wanted to see how the "other" half lives - I will post a Scout review later) and rode from Eagle Rider in Orlando (excellent experience) and headed over to Largo to pay Dime City...

Recurring Themes -what i have notuced searching for old bikes

In the years that I have been shopping and reconditioning old bikes I have noticed two recurring themes: 1) Titles must have legs because the keep getting lost. 2) People must hate even basic bike maintenance because bikes from the 1970s are out up for sale right around the 12,000 mile mark...

    Suzuki Savage Roadster

I am getting the itch to build a roadster. The Suzuki Savage seems like an affordable candidate, but I want the roadster for a usable weekend bike. I am not certain if 650 Thumper would be powerful enough to be enjoyable. I am not looking for a speed burner, but my current weekend pleasure ride...

    1970 CB450K Left Fork

I need a left fork tube for a 1970 CB450K. These are the early forks without a dampening rod and use a 35x46x11 seal. The left is pitted significantly, but the right is in very good shape. Thus, I only need one.

    T250 No Kill Switch

My 1971 Suzuki T250 does not have a kill switch. I don't like not having one. Should I just get a generic kill switch and wire it in to power on the coil leads?

    Best Sounding Classic Bike Engine.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but, what do you think is the best, sweetest, sounding classic bike engine. I am partial to the fours used in the Yamaha XJ series and the Honda CB450K twins. I also like the sound of two-stroke triples, but not so much the sound of the Yamaha XS...

    Suzuki Intruder Tank

I have a friend in need of a fuel tank for his 1986 Suzuki Intruder. He is just about finished recovering from his second hip replacement surgery when he dropped the Intruder in his garage, creasing the tank. If anyone has a line on a used replacement or a tank from another bike which would fit...

    71 T250 Lost All Electrics

After running aftermarket lights on the rear of my 71 T250, I painted and installed OEM turn signals. After installing my right rear signal, I had light to the right front, but none to the right rear. Thinking I had a bad light, I tried a test light which barely glowed and then I lost all...

    Found an RD For Sale

I spotted this poor soul for sale(see attachments) on Route 715 up here in the Poconos. It looks like a 400 (I never saw radial heads on a 350, but I am not an RD expert, just a fan). Owner was not home. It looks in rough shape, except for the nicely painted tank. Carbs were uncovered. No...

    CB450 Carb Issue

I have an interesting situation with my son's 1970 CB450. The bike has Mikuni VM32 Carbs. They were pre-jetted for the 450 by Dime City and I richened them a bit to account for the Uni-filters and unbaffled exhaust (exhaust came that way when we bought it.) When you jump on the throttle, the...
