Just added some more pictures of the saddlebag. You can see the two mounting arms. I think they go to the passenger footpeg and the shock mount.

Sorry for the late reply! I'll try to get some more pictures of it this weekend. As for attachment, there are two "arms" that extend out from the backside of the saddlebag (you can see part of one of them in the picture) and they are held by bolts to the body. Its been awhile since i took it...

Thanks for the replies. alzbz - i was thinking the input shaft needed to be moving, because when i turned it, i could get it to shift into the next gear after getting stuck at the false neutral. I feel a lot better now. Looking forward to putting the engine back together now.
