Right now I'm looking at getting some ninja forks when I get more $. All I have of the Suzuki stuff is wheels... so I'd need to find axles, spacers, rotors, calipers, sproket, build the swingarm, the works... Ninja stuff should be easier right now.
My stock cb controls corroded inside, so no worky. I bought a Baja universal control setup for switches, some cheap clipons that are surprisingly nice and solid (they're 33mm though... when i get the new forks I'm going to mill them out to 36mm), and originally planned on using uber cheap...
You mean the wiring through the stock handlebars? I'm using my own clip ons with the ninja controls; I have to ebay a clutch perch, forks, and a new axle. Little by little I'll get all the parts together though.
Does anyone think that a Katana 600 front end and rear wheel would look good? The...
Which bearing did you use? I've got the all balls tapered set; I don't have the triple yet to see if they fit the stem myself.
Haha... Any one got an extra upper steering neck bearing cup? Mine have been misplaced.
Quick reply before bed, but more to come tomorrow:
A guy I know is parting out a wreck '02 ninja 250, so after trading my little harbor freight mig welder, i ended up with
Front wheel w/ rotor and extra rotor
Rear wheel w/rotor and sprocket
Rear axle
Both calipers
Forward and rear master...
New project to play around with then profit on:
Runs great, leaks a little bit, and front shock needs to be redone somehow, but otherwise awesome deal
This is somewhat of what I'm shooting for:
and a little tease of what I might do:
Thanks frogman!
I mocked them up with zip ties so that the pegs sit where the passenger pegs do; with clubmans, I felt kinda cramped. I'll try it for now and if it's the bike feels a bit squirrely, I'll move them forward some. (I'm 5'10" so it might be for the best)
No, I didn't put a brace...
Got my frame back today :) Needs to have some spots here and there smoothed out and filed down, but all the major welding is done.
With all the gusseting in, this frame should be super stiff. I'm looking forward to it :)
Also made a great friend in my welder; he let me have a go with...
Sonreir, you're inspiring me. I'm doing a bit of this too, and using a lot of the same parts. I'm shooting more for low end grunt though:

So Por15 is great, really does smooth out. Engine enamel, different story. My swingarm, upper triple tree, and rear rotor look like crap lol... Really heavy on the brush strokes. Mostly due to my horrible paint skills and laying it on too thick with a stiff brush. I'm gonna attempt to sand it...
So stuff done over the past few days:
Pulled swingarm bushings out. Are they normally plastic? I used the bearing puller I bought for the wheel bearings, and I'm pretty sure I shouldn't have tightened it down so much because I broke one pulling it out.
Also got some cheap rearsets from...
Finish all the sandblasting on the frame, but before I can paint it I wanted the metal work taken care of. Dropped it off with Israel Marquez at Oly Iron in Olympia. Getting the backbone seams of the bike tig welded, the previous owners bracing cut out and new braces welded in made out of the...
So since I'm pulling a 24 hour shift of guard duty at work, I figured I'd use the free time when everyone's at home and I'm still here to let my guard duty sergeant, high speed nco that he is, man the phones while i got some bike work in... Just kiddin. He hooked me up and didn't mind doing desk...
Cam looks like it might need a regrind... Looks a little worn. Pics tonight.
Rocker arm regrinds are 3.50 each 7.50 if they have to be rehardened @ Delta Camshaft of Tacoma. Definitely worth $30.
My at work machinist is a bit swamped at the moment, so having my journals cleaned up and...
Ok so I got a little bit of work done, but I have sone questions:
1. Is the groove in the race that holds the can supposed to be there? Top picture came off the engine, bottom is an extra head I got with the bike.
Groove:
Scored race on spare head:
2. Anyone have a cam chain slipper? The top...
