Still riding this thing around. A crazy amount of stuff has happened to this thing since I last posted in here.
Next big milestone is going to be boring the motor to 615cc
Here's my bike!
This is my first bike and first build. I'm really big into the vintage BMW scene though. If anyones interested, I'll sneak a few pics of those projects. This thing was pretty thrashed when I picked it up. The "owner" said he never rode it and it sat for a couple years. I figured...
Yep I checked over there but there's nothing for the 550s. According to some people over there, their swingarms are 9 1/4 while mine looks to be 9 1/16.
some quick measurements from mine, and just in case someone in the future is looking, the gpz550 swing arm is 9 inches without the dust caps and 9 1/16 with the dust caps on which is 230mm.
Would I just have to find something that 230mm also and it should work? Also how do you figure out the...
I posted this on kzr but that forum seems kind of dead so I figured Ill throw it here too.
I cant seem to find any info on swingarm swaps for a gpz550. Does anyone know what would work? The bike is already monoshocked too so if I can use the existing points it would be great. From looking at...
I'm also looking for a hoop for my bike, its 8.5 center to center or 9.5 outer to outer. Its an 84 gpz550. Would the 9" hoop look really messed up if pulled .5 inches?
Ahhh I wrote up a big post but it got deleted. Oh well.
I ordered the bearings, came out to 60 for the top in bottom which aint bad. Cool that it comes with the spacers too, makes it plug n play.
How important are the steering stops? I dont really have any welding skills so I dont think I can...
Ahh crap no races but the ones on the gpz frame are the same OD. Either way I'll probably order some new bearings just for the peace of mind.
The weights between the 2 bikes are similar so spring rate should be ok (hopefully) I sorta accepted that it gonna be lower like 4 inches but the front...
First bike, first time working on them. I somehow decided that a front end swap would be a good idea lol. Anyways I have a 84 Gpz550 and I'm putting an 07 GSXR1000 front end on.
The Gpz550 bearing sizes are
Upper: 25x47x15
Lower: 28x52x16
The GSXR1000 are
Upper: 30x47x12
Lower: 30x52x16
Soo...
