Building my own two-stroke "Mongrel" - Inspired by CharlieT & TedT

Ha! I've inspired a few people in the past, but it usually ended up with citations being issued or trips in the back of a squad car! Good luck with the build and can't wait to see it progress. A sneak preview of one of our latest projects here in the shop. Mongrel II, or M2 for short....when...

Does anyone still build Cafe Racers or is it not fashionable anymore?

I'd have to disagree with that statement. Case in point, you are still here.

The bike Honda never built - or, my MR250 Elsinore for the Vintage 1000

Yamaha bllue tape on a red Honda tank? Tacky, at best. SHould have used the Honda red tape. Or an Ichiban sticker probably would have worked even better. They are impervious to everything.

By derestricting can result in an increase velocity of the air traveling thru the carb venturi. This increases the efficiency and allows for more fuel to be...

If you just google "derestricting Aprilia Falco" you'll find a bunch of threads about it. Involves sniping a wire and removing some airbox bung. ITs a very simple way to bump up the hp by around 20hp.

Have a couple of those plus a large stock pile of parts. Have also had half a dozen or so go thru our shop. Depends on a lot of things.....does the motor turn over? If so, does it seem to have compression? What would you want to do with it.....full on resto, rider resto, or build a custom?

And then there were two.. 1976 GT250 Rebuild

When we got it, it was a bastardized mess with parts from various years on it. By the time we were done, there wasn't much original left of it . The frame and engine is all thats left of the '72. Engine same as later GT250, so no real big problems there. Added those frame stiffeners that you see...
