hey JRK8892, not a problem. first of all, sorry for the late reply. been busy at work and did not spend much time in the garage lately since i've been trying to catch the last few days of good weather for riding. i know it sounds like a cliche, but i guess prep mattered. i would first sand a...

yes, it was a foam molded on top of the pan. since it was florist foam, which is very soft and crumbles easily (disintegrates), i put on some gloves and scooped out most of the foam. then, i poured in some acetone (not very much), which pretty much took care of the rest.

took a video. sorry, it's a bit shaky, but you'll get an idea of how it looks and sounds. i still have to finish up some work. it is running ok, but something is not quite right with the carbs. it seems that i have a slight issue with vacuum. the carb guru from ohiocaferacers.com will take...

well, it is almost done. still need to fabricate a rear brake (don't have a vise, so cannot bend a rod nicely), the front brake switch is on order, and the taillight and the license plate bracket need to be slightly modified so the bracket does not brush up against the rear tire when i hit a...

hey svizen, as far as i've heard about 350's, they don't need to be rejetted. greg from http://www.ohiocaferacers.com/, who is a carb guru, said that you only need to adjust it properly and that it will run like a champ. i'll have him come over for some beers and carbs adjustment. btw, if you...

the pods that i put instead of stock air filter are cheapo emgo's. they were $8 a piece so not a biggie. if they won't work well, i'll get some k&n's. the difference in carbs before and after cleaning and painting the caps is quite drastic. just had to put them next to each other: also...

hey, joe, thx for the tip on wrapping cables. will look into it. btw, which size did you get? did some work on the carbs... this is how carbs looked when i got the bike: and the petcock: disassembled and in the process of cleaning: after an eternity of spraying them with the carb...

did some work on the seat pan: i created a seat pan from fiberglass when i was making the seat. as a cushion, i am using the thickest carpet under-padding that i could find at lowe's. it was dirt cheap and plenty leftover. btw, i used two layers and glued everything with spray adhesive...

cleaned all the cables: i figured i would try reusing old cables and if it does not work out, i'll get some new over the winter. i properly lubed all the cables and i had some liquid grease that i use to lube my mountain bike chain: since cables were tan/gray, i decided to wrap them in...

last weekend i ed and me rode down to greg's (ohiocaferacers.com) place since he is the man for welding aluminum. also, to have some beers. in any case, since i am using rearsets from a cbr900, brake linkage is located at 9 o'clock and i really needed it to be at 12. so, greg cut the little tab...

hey MBS, i actually followed this writeup http://twinoak.altelco.net/~jacil/clay/motorcycle/KElecSetup.html i filled the tank with arm & hammer washing soda and warm water, fitted a cut-up 1/2 gallon milk container so that the sacrificial anode would not touch the tank, attached a wire to the...

a buddy of mine (jesse that put the rubber on the wheels) came over last night as i was preparing to put the chain on and helped me out. a new chain: we had to cut some links off - ground a pin and punched it out. i thought it would have been more difficult, but it was actually not all that...

finally got around to paint the starter (duplicolor low gloss black): i was going to pain the carbs, but after talking to a buddy of mine suggested i rather not since the paint would most likely not stick and would easily come off from all the gas vapors. but, the carbs caps were so rusted...

a little more work... cleaned up the rear sprocket and put it on the rear wheel: these are the bolts and spacers that i will use for the rearsets: the idea is to get something like greg from ohio cafe racers did (http://www.ohiocaferacers.com/) some miscellaneous pieces washed and on the...

great work ed. man, that bike looks and sounds great. pictures and videos don't really show it off the way it impresses in person.

just to give you an idea of how shiny it should be in the end... i wet-sanded the headlight bucket with 1000 grit (just like the tank and the seat) and hit it with three coats of clear. the result is a rather deep shine: since i am doing the same with the tank and the seat, it should turn...

and the ground metalcast comes on: the seat gets 3 coats: and the tank as well: next came 3 coats of metalcast yellow: and also found some time to clean up the rear sprocket and related smaller pieces. mostly used WD40 and a maroon scotch brite pad:
