sounds to me like the driven plates are toast... maybe even the steels and springs. jam your finger down in the fluid and see if it comes out with all kinds of crap on it.

dude.... your bike is... AMAZING. I just stumbled upon your build yesterday, and i'm already trembling waiting to see the finished product. I'm sooo glad i didn't see it from the very beginning. lol
just kindof dip the valve stems into engine oil before putting it together... pour a quart of your engine oil across the cam before installing the cam cover, then use one less quart when you fill it at final assembly... get it?
