    San Francisco people??

I've been commuting from the North Bay to the City 4 days a week for a few weeks now (for school) and every day I see at least 4 or 5 cafe racers in the City. Hell, there are usually 3 or 4 parked out front of my school every day. Where are all the people that ride them??

    Automotivetouchup.com review

Hey all, Just want to shoot out a superb review of automotivetouchup.com. Here's the story: I've gone through a few trials with the color for my tank. First it was all flat black. Then black with an off-center red stripe. Then black with a wide silver stripe down the middle lined by two...

SOHC vs DOHC learning thread for newbies

Hi all, I hear a lot about SOHC being better than DOHC and then vice versa. "It's easier to do this on this one," that sort of thing. I've done a little research, but engines are still a little beyond me sometimes. I'm not looking to buy one or the other, or get into a debate, or anything of...

    cx500 fork swap

I'm working on a 1979 CX500, and I found out today that I need to completely replace the from end. The rotor is bent and the forks are worn enough that it's time for them to go (re-sealing them won't work because they're skinnier now from wear). I'm thinking this is a perfect time to get...

any Sonoma County bike towing recommendations?

I live in Petaluma, CA in Sonoma County. Just moved here a couple weeks ago. I don't have a truck or a trailer, but I did find a good guy to take my bike to that is only 3ish miles away. I'm not working tomorrow so I'd like to take it in. The bike is totally non-op right now. My options are to...

    just a pricing question

I found a 1958 Gilera 125 for $1800, is that too much? It seems like the average price for an old vintage 125 (any make) is somewhere between 1400 and 1700, so 1800 in my mind seems super high end. Am I way off base?

love some thoughts on these paint TYPE ideas

I'm thinking of using all Rust-Oleum rattle can stuff. The types I'm thinking of, and their applications, are: appliance paint on my frame, forks, headlight, etc. (because from what I understand, that stuff is super awesome as an all-around tough paint), engine paint on the engine (duh), and...

    CX500D petcock sizing

I got a Deluxe tank for my CX500 Custom, but it didn't come with a petcock. I went to oldbikebarn.com, found the part number, and ordered one straight from the book, but when it arrived it was too small. Long story short, I've ordered 3 total, all claiming to be the right size, but all of them...

Just cuz something can be a cafe racer does not mean that it is a cafe racer..! For example: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/mcy/2638063599.html Am I right?

    San Raphael (San Fran) shops?

Hi All, I just moved up to San Raphael, just north of SF, from San Diego, and I was wondering about the local shops. Anyone have a favorite they go to, or would recommend? Preferably a shop that will do basic maintenance, plus modify stuff if needed or wanted. Obviously they should be cool...

    CX500 Custom frame sucks! ideas?

I have a 1979 Honda CX500 Custom I'm working on, and the biggest problem I've run into so far is that the frame, instead of being flat across the top, has a downward bend in it. It was just designed that way. I made a cafe seat for it, but when I lay it on the frame there is a huge triangular...

    Hi from San Diego

Hi there, Pretty much a newbie here, but I'm learning. It's cool to see how much you learn about bikes when you just sit down and take it apart with little direction. My first bike was a stupid idea...I let a salesman talk me into buying a Suzuki FZ1 as my first bike. Literally five minutes...
