Hope you had a happy Thanksgiving. I did until I started working on the bike again. I got the cars working and the bike now runs. Except for some reason my starter stays on. I put a new battery in and when I turned on the ignition. It cranked up, and the starter kept spinning. The only way...

The cb160 was missing the float valve seal. I guess it fell out while I was cleaning it. I have another one being ordered. The 200 has new plugs but I don't know how to check the compression. Rookie stamp on my forehead. :)

I took the float out and it didn't have any holes or dents on it, and there was no sound of gas. When I turned the gas on and tried to crank it, gas still poured out. For the love of God, Why?! And, on my cb200t, I have gas, the spark plugs are clean and the battery is turning the motor, but...

So I started sanding the hell out of the insides of the bores, and wouldn't you know it. The slides slid right through like they were knew. I am guessing that they had sit for awhile and the carbon built up to an unreal level. So I put the carbs back together and put everything back on the...

I took the throttle cables off, needles and the rest. I have even attempted to get some fine 3m sandpaper to sand down any gunk that might be causing it, but it still gets stuck. Honestly, I think that the sliders didn't originally come from these carburetors. I am interested in the carbs...

The slides seem to be in great shape. The cylinders have a few scratches in them, but nothing is jagged to where it would prevent it from going in. Is the cylinder that the slide fits down into tight at the top and loose at the bottom?

I did that as you said, but still sticking. I have a 1975 CB200T that is very similar. So I opened up the carb on it to test the fluidity of the slide, and it slides up and down effortlessly. I can't find any thing that might be snagging on the inside, nor is there any gunk built up...

The bore seems to be smooth. I am not sure how well the pics will turn out but I will try when I get home. The funny thing is, that they seemed to move smoothly when it was running last week, but for some reason they got stuck and now they don't seem to fit at all. I can put it in about two...

When I look down the slider with the needle pointing down, I see a long slit on one side that allows the throttle cable to slide through and a shorter, wider slit on the opposite side of the latter. Inside the tube there is a small knob in the middle of the tube, and a bigger one towards the...

This is my first posting and I am not sure how this is going to go, but I must be a moron. I have a 1967 Honda CB160 that I am trying to get up and running and i ran into a snag. The throttle started to stick and I thought that it was a frayed cable, but it turned out that the "what I think is...

    Motorcycle Carburetor Theory 101

Good Morning. Your explanation was very deep. Thank you for taking your time to help us understand. My question stems from the "slider valve." I have a '67 CB160 that I am fixing up. Mine was sticking, causing the throttle to not snap back on the handle. When I took it out to clean it, and...
