dude there is a why easy way to do all of that and not have to deal with all the nasty metal and such. i think i built mine in about 1 hour and a half start to finish not including the mounting which is 3 hole and bolts.

i must say that those pipes did come out pretty well considering we didnt have a measuring tape and im pretty sure we were drinking....nothing like welding while drunk. good time... thats probably why we need to we re-weld them...
