Tanks painted, my buddy did a slack job, so he'll fix it later. The levers are being refinished as well. It's Finally coming together, and I'm feeling the big retro light! I'm trying to have it done for sept 13 and go to port dover. Ooh and im thinking black leather or SUADE seat with red...

Ok, so I've got some work done over the past couple of months: poweder coated frame and othet items, new pegs, cleaned up the battery tray, hooked up the digital speedo/tacho, rewired everything, replaced the shocks, painted/cut and buffed the cowel and fenders, put in some flush mounted rear...

The gray colour is just primer filler :) ... I feel I need to add a red leather, in order to go along with the red caliper

I'm going to go gloss black with two racing stripes down the middle and add a (bmw) red leather or vinyl seat to make the tank and the cowl mate together seamlessly, although a belly pan is ALWAYS a great idea... so I might just have to consider one.

    kz400 with a gxsr 600 forks

Nice seat design! I would perhaps round off the edges where the seat pan will make with the cowl, in order to make sure it has the right amount of "curve" your going to need in order for it to flow well with the rest of the body work. I'm sure it'll flow well when you've got the leather seat...

Bolted and lined up the seat with 1/2" weather stripping between the bottom of the seat and frame rails for added cusheyness, Added the rear tailing and plate holder... electronics tray is almost finished!

Lately I've been thinking about using a Streetfighter-ish headlight as, the 80's tank doesn't seem to flow all that well with a standard 5.5" circular headlight, I may also just make a very small fairing to cover the electronics or something.. These are some of the options I've been considering...

to make or buy a new seat/cowl

As I've tried, IMO it's a huge undertaking and without the proper tools your cowl is not going to look good. It's difficult to hammer out curves and bends with just some metal dolly's and a hammer, but without a planisher, an english wheel, and annealing, it's torturous. I highly recommend you...

I'm going to work on purchasing a new Tacho and I'm not going to use the velocity stacks, as I originally planned. I'm going to throw on some oval tapered uni-pods as the V. Stacks would surely flood my carbs with debris in no time.

I welded the bulk of my frame rails, which will be supporting the seat cowl, and hiding the battery and electronics. I've got a few more items to add to the mess. It's a struggle trying to align everything, so that the seat and new seat cowl flow seamlessly together.

I cleaned the engine and carbs with a sand blaster, and I used glass as my media. That's my Go-To choice for cleaning aluminum parts and resurfacing other metals

I'm going to throw on a few more coats of Dupont surface filler primer, then start re-welding some frame rails for the seat... maybe I'll install my brake lights and flush mounts while I'm at it.
