    Rebuilt CB360 Motor... Shifting Issues.

Thanks everyone for the input. I looked further into the shift drum stopper with the side cover off shifting through the gears by hand and noticed the shift drum stopper wasn't moving. So as it turns out, I just had the bolt holding the shift drum stopper on too tight... I loosened it slightly...

    Rebuilt CB360 Motor... Shifting Issues.

I don't think there are issues with wear on the forks or the grooves in the drum. It has been a while so I do not recall what the measurements were if I was smart enough to take them but everything looked surprisingly clean with no notable grooves or burns on any parts. The bike also shifted...

    Rebuilt CB360 Motor... Shifting Issues.

So, I looked at the stopper (spring and ball bearing on top of the motor) and when I had the stopper out with the engine off I tried to shift the transmission by hand and noticed that the shift drum is moving side to side. It does not move side to side very much, possibly 1/8th of an inch or...

    Rebuilt CB360 Motor... Shifting Issues.

I had removed and cleaned out the stopper when I rebuilt the motor. I can't imagine I didn't get the order correct when replacing it in the motor. But I will pull it to check considering it is less intrusive than pulling the clutch cover back off.

    Rebuilt CB360 Motor... Shifting Issues.

Alright... I messed with the clutch release some more and it seems that the new Motion Pro cable that I bought it somehow slightly shorter. The steel cable itself and not the casing. I removed one of the two nuts on the engine side and that seemed to solve the clutch release. It seems that...

    Rebuilt CB360 Motor... Shifting Issues.

I tried all kind of adjustments on the clutch release mechanism... I have everything installed in the order pictured in the manual. Coming from the motor side of course is the rod, then the ball bearing, then the clutch lever, the three caged ball bearings, the clutch adjuster cam, to the...

    Rebuilt CB360 Motor... Shifting Issues.

Hey all! I just finished putting my CB360 motor back together and it runs great. The shifting on the other hand is kind of off. I can shift through all of the gears but I would say about half of the time it essentially floats between gears until I kick the lever again, generally going into...

Sorry all... I ended up boring out my cylinders to do the swap. Pistons are no longer for sale.

    CB360 to 378 Pistons / GS850 Pistons + Pins and Clips

I have a pair of pistons for a Suzuki GS850 (standard size) that can be used to big bore the Honda CB360 to create a CB378. This swap has been documented well by CrazyPJ. Bore out the cylinders and the pins are the same diameter. The pistons are new old stock (NOS) and look fantastic. I also...

Side note... I didn't come here for praise, I take pride in my work, and sure, its nice when others appreciate it. I mostly didn't expect the vague negative comments like this one.... Where this is actually good negative feedback...

damn... didn't think it was such a big deal around to not post back. Im still around, working on my other shit at the moment, back in school, and new job, not much time for the forum. I have been taking the bike around instead of just internet posting... I'm fine if not everyone likes the bike...

chito nailed that one... I didn't think this forum was going to be full of so many haters... its an evolution/version of a cafe bike... sorry for all you purists out there that can't consider something outside of the box as a cafe and keep making versions of the same bikes. and a cb650...

I'm not planning on wringing it out... I have a couple other bikes for that. (an 01 honda 929 and an 03 honda RC51). I'm sure the frame will hold up to some decent spirited riding... not looking to go to track days with the bike. Will continue to post pics as the bike is assembled. I have the...

wanted to try something different. I added a couple extra braces here and there so hope it will hold up well enough. we'll see though. have seen people swap front and rear suspension but not the motor... so giving it a whirl... hope it doesn't bit me in the ass cause its been a long road.

Lurking for a bit... Now to show a bit of my project.

So my project started life as a 1981 Honda CB650 that was given to me by a friend because he was just letting it rot in his driveway under a tarp. Much of the bike was in need of repair so I decided to ditch most of it and go another route. Plus its most fun this way. Stripped frame...
