You can see my painted engine parts in the back of his shop.
Been awhile.... got really busy with school projects and doing honey dews around the house. Got some stuff I need to CNC at school, wrote a program for new rearsets, programs for upper engine mounts and chain adjuster to be machined out of aluminum. Did do some cleaning and painting on the...
Will the GM HEI Junkyard Ignition work for a 73 CB500? Was thinking of using Pinhead's Build http://hondacb650.jakesys.net/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3142&sid=08cc29c391fc3a2d57e42b8e1f88433a
using a distributor plate out of a carburated vehicle and using the HEI bits from older Cavaliers. Can...
6061 is cheap, any place should be able to water jet it, issue there is set up fees and your ability to provide accurate drawings. Is there a technical college nearby? Maybe they could do it as a project. Wouldn't take more than a few hours for a student.
I clamped mine on a mill and fly cut them off. Welded in the pockets and fly cut again. Check my blood sweat and beers cb500 build for what it looked like.
Well my buddy, James and I were both off Friday soooooo shop time! Gasket Kit was in from DCC and Oil Seal came in from another vendor. Engine needed to be cleaned and stuff replaced. Needed cleaning in anticipation of painting and other cosmetic love. Well picture time.
Pulling the engine...
Does anyone make an internal fork stop kit for a CB500? Can't seem to find a kit available on the int3rb3bz. I've swapped a GS500 front end onto the bike and really don't like the ugly fork stop bumps on the triple tree. I guess I can machine one up but was going to check for availability...
Well I was like a kid checking USPS tracking and finally waiting outside by the mail box ;D

Well kinda... been over the span of a month but only 3 days of hands on. Thanks! Trying to decide on shocks or if I should rebuild/refill the rears with new springs. Going with RT or Progressive front springs.
Hey guys, disabled Soldier with a lot of time and not much sense. Best friend is an experienced Harley guy so we're diving off the deep end in our spare time to cobble a roadworthy mess out of CB500 and GS500 parts. Live near Montgomery, machining student at local technical college.
Last pictures for the day... I have to work in blocks, full time student and work about 20-30 hours weekly on top of that...
Things that were holding us up were carbs, tank, seat and bars to set rearset brackets. Talked to the guy that he got the bike from, dude was like, "forgot this"...
Buddy got it for Father's Day, Harbor Freight....
Well I'm a medically retired Soldier so I can't buy nice billet items... I do have access to 6061 and machines and time.... Looked around at various rearsets and stuff, drew up some prints, mixed some Redbull with coffee fired up NCPlot and...
Did a bunch of research on mating CB500 with a GS500... I'm a student machinist and have access to big boy chip making toys. More toys than experience but what the heck. Took the GS500 triples, ordered an All Balls bearing set for the CB500. Ground the welds out and pressed the stem out of...
Hi guys/gals. New here, thought I'd start a build journal to help me track my build and hopefully get advice and/or whatever. I would normally rebuild the bike back to running condition then modify but that wasn't possible with this rolling collection of stuff. My friend is an experienced bike...
