I just picked up some year 2000-ish Yamaha R6 rearsets for $10 on Craigslist and test fit them to my 400F. Looks very promising. I should be able to simply invert the linkage on the brake, turn the lever around, then invert the linkage and turn the lever around on the shifter, and weld a bracket...

Just registered for an account so I could comment on this! I have a 1979 CB400TII and it's being a bugger. It's boggy in the mid range and poppy / sneezy a lot but smooths out with the choke on. I put CM400 carbs on it because the ones on it to begin with had a broken emulsion tube in one...
