    Project "NimRod" - 1983 GS1100L-Shafty

I started with a 1x7 oak board that actually fit nicely between the frame rails. I sealed the board and found the mounting spots for the extra frame cross members I added. I cut the back off an old kawasaki gas tank I purchased fro the salvage yard. I used 4 layers of foam cut out of a...

    Project "NimRod" - 1983 GS1100L-Shafty

right now i use an aftermarket car mounting system that has a bendable rod with a suction cup on the end. I cut the cup off, capped the end and wrapped it to hold to the triple tree with a few hidden zip ties. I want to do something alittle less bulky and lower profile though

Strip of vinyl and a piece of cord or string. You can wrap the vinyl around the string and staple or glue the ends. then add between the two pieces. It's not as hard as it may look.

    Project "NimRod" - 1983 GS1100L-Shafty

So I finished the battery mount. I did some fab to the origional battery box to accept the battery in a width wise configuration. Painted black. I decided to us an old belt to mount the battery. I like the look with this bike. I always have an extra old belt in the closet if I need to...

Thanks Oosham. Yeah I will be water proofing the wires and shielding components from the water. I removed the battery box and also cut out the battery box support between both sides of the frame. The whole are is clean and open. You really can't see the electronics when the seat is on...

    Project "NimRod" - 1983 GS1100L-Shafty

Here is what the underside of my seat is looking like. I'm trying to make everything as neat as possible for times when I need to take it off. I don't forsee taking the seat off unless I have electrical issues. The full size battery will disconnect and come out the now open frame. I also want to...

    Project "NimRod" - 1983 GS1100L-Shafty

A mock up pics that I didn't post earlier. Sorry The CB tank fit without to much problem. I did have to reshape the inside of the tank to allow alittle more room for the coils and more width to slide on the stock tank mounts. I added mounting points directly to the backbone of the frame...
