Years ago I made contact with a hawk that I never saw at about 60 mph. The hawk hit the left handlebar and my left-of-sternum chest. It wrenched the handlebars out of my hands and pulled three ribs loose from my breastbone before exploding into a cloud of feathers. The resulting crash separated...
Just read this myself!!! ROFLMAO over the cheese exchange. I read it aloud and even had my wife laughing. By the way, did diesel450 ever make Moderator? I think hijacking a serious thread with a one line post has to be some kind of record!!
Did the kit solve any problems or did the thread just...
There's an over-running clutch between the crankshaft and the alternator rotor where the starter gear is located. There are three springs with little buttons over the springs holding rollers in tapered slots between the crank and alternator. When the starter is engaged, the alternator is being...
Any device (turnsignal, lamp, neutral indicator, etc...) that is mounted in a plastic housing will need to have a separate ground wire connected. You can just connect a green wire anywhere on the frame after connecting the main ground (or use a main ground strap with a skinny extra wire) and run...
Kop,
I'd appreciate it if you could mike the inlet and outlet dimentions of your known carbs and let me know what they are. Compared to the Keihins on my CB350, even individual carbs for 750s look kinda small. I'd hate to spend $60 for a set of 550 carb kits and find out they're really 400F...
Frogman,
Thanks for the heads-up!! I pulled the bowls off and only one of the carbs has any corrosion at all!! There is no gum, no varnish, not even any discolorization. I held them up and when the floats dropped down the needles dropped with them!!! The needles are all tight but still turn...
DAMN!!! I hope he gets $550 for those carbs!!! Those are the exact same carbs I've got!! I can rebuild mine and just get them looking pretty and if I get half that I'll be happy!!
;D FMTL ;D
If anybody might have a set of 350 four or 400 four carbs sitting on their bench I'd appreciate it if you would mike the openings front and rear and report back here. This might help me figure out what these things are. As I said, I can't find any stampings on the carbs to identify them at all...
Alright, I just spent the last 10 minutes with a flashlight and magnifying glass looking for some stamped numbers and if they're there, they're invisible!!! The only marking of any kind I could find was the Keihin on the side of each carb. I haven't pulled the mounting plate off or removed...
Told you I'd post pictures of the carbs when I got them. Here they are. If anyone can help identify where they came from, what they went on or anything else about them I'd appreciate it!!
FMTL
I went to the local metal recyclers to recycle some ahhh... aluminum. I was talking to the dude about stuff and I looked between my feet and there was a set of four carburetors tied together in a nice pretty row with all of the linkages and everything. I got aroused severely. I tried to look...
I've got a really nice '73 350F tank I'd like to mount on my 72 350 Twin. I'm thinking it would be easiest to move the mounting pegs for the rubber dampers on the frame and modify the rear mount but this is my first try and I don't want to screw it up.
Got any suggestions?? Pictures of before...
PJ,
Best quote in days!
It took Michelangelo 40 years to complete the tomb of Pope Julius II and the scope was reduced from 45 statues in the original to the final 10, three of which weren't included in the final piece. I'm NOT Michelangeo by any stretch of the imagination, I'm just trying to...
When wrapping start about an inch away from where you want the tape to start and wrap away from the center to where you want the wrap to start and then reverse the wrap and go to well within where the main harness starts. Do all of the outlying branches first and wrap the main trunk of the...
