Well the weather has finnally improved so managed to take the bike out fot its first ride. Everything seems to work well and was an enjoyable ride. Only problem was a leaking carburrettor which seems to have a split drain tube in the float bowl so i have soldered the tube untill i get a new one.

The rattle can paint is all about the finnishing. Paint the scheme you want then put a few clear coats on, leave well alone for a week or two for the paint to harden. Then i carefully flat off with wet 1200's paper, avoid any edges, you can feel the surface smooth out as you do it. Keep wiping...

Thanks for the good comments. I am in the UK and just bought some clear from the local Auto Spares shop, nothing special , i think it was made by Holts, I am preping it for paint at the moment, its had a few dents in its life so i am just trying to get it reasonable without too much filler...

Had a mixed day today, picked up the frame from Tripple S and they definately do a good job. I was expecting to have to get my taps and dremel out to clean off powder coat on the threads and splines but they have taken care of everything. I don't think i will have to clean up anything when i...

Yes rattle can, just put a good clear coat on and then leave it for a week to harden. Then its just a case of buffing the paint up with fine cutting paste and then polish.

OK, should be able to pick my frame up from the powdercoaters next week. While that is being done i thought i would do some paintwork of my own. There are only two items, mudguard and seat unit, although i might do the tank later. The tank is such a big battered thing ,it will be a project on...

Now i was really pleased with this seat cover but i thought i could improve it by fitting some piping along the back edge. Bassically i messed up so had to cut the piping off and try again. I messed up again and did not have enough material left to try again so it was binned. Mark two was made...

Seat unit, this has tried my patience over the last couple of weeks. This is the underside of the seat unit , i have bonded some Mdf to it so i can mount the fixings and also screwed a Mdf extention to the front to lengthen it .You can also see two plastic mounts which will hook under the metal...

Couple of extra jobs before sending to powdercoat, i made a brace for the rear subframe which also acts as a mounting for the 'hugger'. You can also see a plate screwed on with two slots, that is the seat mounting which i will explain in the next post. Now the original rear brake pedal mounts...

Frame mods. So now my exhaust fits i can strip the bike down and prep the frame for paint/powdercoat. Stripped all the parts off and then layed the frame/engine down on a piece of sponge so i could lift the frame off the engine. Seen this done on other forums and enabled me to remove the...

So now the very tricky bit of welding it on. Not easy welding down inside the tube and i managed to burn through in a couple of smaall areas. One day i will treat myself to a new welder. A quick polish and yet another trial fit

Making my Collecter. First i made a template out of MDF and then once happy duplicated in steel. Then the tricky job of welding it on, the pipes are thin so it took a little time. Not pretty but its on for good. I then ordered a stainless reducer from EBay, once you hit the 'buy it now'...
