I'm impressed.. and am building a bike with Murrays carbs and a few other bits and pieces. I would love to see your dyno readout. :)

    Need CL450 parts!

Sorry, can't help. Just pointing out that from the 72 K5 onwards the seat is side hinged and a different unit. My K4 is rear hinged so you should be able to use a seat up to this model.

Wife's CL175 - How do I remove old tanker sealer?

Under the small, round cover with 3 screws on the left side of the crankcase there's a centrifugal oil sludge seperater. It pulls out with a long M8 bolt for cleaning I think.

Anything wrong with using vinegar to polish carbs?

Vinegar works well, there's one reason to use it. :) I'm in south Australia where the only way I can source carb cleaner is by the 20 litre drum or in aerosol cans. Either way it's pricy so I use the aerosol.

Anything wrong with using vinegar to polish carbs?

Best is to soak in vinegar first. This disolves the minerals that solvents often won't touch. [ie that white crap] But... you should also use at least aerosol carb cleaner and compressed air to finish up, this gets the resins and varnishes etc. Be prepared to put between half and a full can...

Anything wrong with using vinegar to polish carbs?

I clean carbs by soaking them for days in white vinegar, - they'd have to be in there a long time tom do them any harm. You don't need baking soda, unless you want to soda blast the carbs. Baking soda is vinegar and/or water soluble, so no worries getting it out of the carbs. I've soda blasted...

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130490961005&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:AU:1123 These are cheap and good, they'd rule out any possible issues with your coils. It says for CDI but they work with point systems. It wouldn't hurt to recheck the valve clearances, they're very...

I think you may have to get into that right carb again. Sounds like it could be a dirty low speed circuit. These things often dictate the points gaps because of the way the right cylinder has to be timed but the smaller end of the specs is best as this allows the max dwell for the charge to...

Might be worth swapping your coils from side to side in case this is an engine temperature induced coil problem.. Some dud coils wait until they're warm before misbehaving. You have the points and the timing correct on both cylinders? They can be a real bitch. Those charging figures are a...

Have you replaced the points condenser/capacitor? Also the points and capacitors available now are generally not as good quality as these items were 30 - 40 years ago. Hopefully the problem is just a lack of battery power, the 450s charging systems were a bit marginal when the bikes were new...

    Freshly Built CB450 engine.

Any motor after a rebuild will pass oil until the rings bed in. As for the constant carb adjustments, how much slop is there around the carb throttle and choke shafts? Air drawn in here [or at the boots] will make tuning difficult. An ignition fault causing the ignition to falter will also...
