El Mirage dry lake

I used to see Wink up there all the tme when he was running his sidecar. He sold it and became tied up with that TV show and now he only makes occasional appearances. He's also lost a lot of weight (or ballast in land racing terms). He was up a few times last season with a Harley drag bike. Made a few "sorting" runs. Beautiful bike, great workmanship.

Really? Probably had his stomach stapled. Man that dude was huge! But he could wrench like a demon!

That or he had his mouth stapled ;D I was surprised when I saw him. But I wasn't surprised when I saw his bike. He knows how to build bikes! If you go to scta-bni.org and search the El Mirage results you might find a photo of the new and improved Wink.

That's pretty much how all race bikes were/are(?) started. Kick starters = weight and extra moving parts to fail.

If the engine dies during the run, you sure won't be pulling over to kickstart it ;)

The truth is I can't kick start it. Its running 14:1 compression and 36 deg. fixed advance. If you're feeling super macho I'll put the kick starter on it and you can have fun. See how for over the bars you can go, or how far up your body your leg can get shoved. Fun all the way. And to brag a bit last Sept. at El Mirage it cranked off a 129.917 run for a class record. We were out there today for the season opener. I'll post some photo a bit later. Got company right now.

It was a stinkin' hot weekend. 108 on Sat. and a much cooler 102 today. I didn;t ride as a friend of min from North Carolina came out to make his El Mirage debut. His best "rookie" run was 122.076 mph. Not too shabby for his first time there. Here he is with Mrs Noisy after his 122 run.
