Project CB350F cafe brat

Re: Fender/guard....I found a cheap used alloy guard of a similar wheel diameter, cut it down to size and made mounts in the style I liked.

I cut down the original guard inner U shaped mount, to use the factory fork leg pick up points, then fashioned 8mm thickwall steel tube and slotted the end to slide onto the metal mounting tabs. I also welded tabs to fix the guard to the mount and used a buttonhead allen bolt and domed nuts. Turned out OK and looks like a 60s Brit bike style mount.

Well done mate, looks good. An aluminium guard would be a great option. I’ll have a look around. I’ve got a small concern that the guard won’t act very well to make the shocks more ridged to stop flex in the corners while riding. Even worse would be fibreglass! Have you noticed the front end being a bit sloppy? I didn’t notice it much on my xs750 but then again I didn’t ride that lemon that often with all its mechanical and electrical dramas I had

Thnx.. I've not noticed any loss of steering feel, the mount is a rigid frame that may act as a brace, but I am also running enduro tyres :)

So I’ve just ordered brembo disk pads for the front wheel. I’m hoping they are a little bit better than the other option I found on eBay. Extra $27 won’t break the bank I guess! Also welded up some new tabs for the newest tank I’ve bought. Looks like it’s going to work well but now the seat is going to be too short. I’ll end up customising the seat with some leather eventually

It's a bit of a belt and braces approach but it's there to make sure that there's no slack between the lever on the brake cam and the rod. If it were not there, the adjuster nut is likely to back off and fall off. It helps to push the foot lever down, but that's not its purpose.

Imagine a slightly sticky cam with worn shoes and a sticky foot lever. You apply the brake and release it, but the rear lever doesn't always spring back and that leaves the nut loose to turn. It's not something we would expect to happen under normal rding conditions, but better to be safe than sorry.

Ordered some bits from 4 into 1 Monday night and received them today. Not bad from America to south Australia in that time. I’m now rebuilding the front brake with a new kit and sorting the plugs, caps, leads and new solder crimp connections for the ignition system

Mounted the coils. Had to weld a little tab to make them fit as the cb550 tank I’m using is in the way

Still waiting on the rearsets. I bloody ordered them ages ago and they never rocked up so I’ve ordered another set and got a refund from AliExpress

I’ll do a video this week of it running. Then maybe I might do one of syncing the carbs. That’s actually going to be annoying because of where the screws are been each carb and filter

Good Stuff man.. you don't like the CB350F tank? I think its a close 2nd to the CB200 tank

Boom! Carbon fibre engine mounts. My first time working with the stuff. Cuts easily with the grinder. This bit is 3mm thick. I’m not sure how thick the original part is. I was guessing about 2mm and likely over engineered like so many things were in the past. I’ve also worked out that carbon fibre is about 60% of what steels rigidity is so it should be close providing the original was near 2mm. Also to add a little more confidence to the matter, the original had a dirty big hole in the centre of the bracket which would have reduced its Structual rigidity. I think it’s tensile strength is 2.1x that of steel so it should be alright. Do I seem worried? Haha I’m not I don’t think ¿ haha
