Hi Folks,
Just got myself a '81 XV750 for a steel last week, I've build it in my mind a 1000 times over the last years with here and there some minor changes, but 90% set.
On the menu, CAD drawing, 3D printing, Carbon fiber and aluminium, all home made.
That's the bike

First thing I did is remove all the accessories to have a better overall view.
It's not my first Cafe build, but hopefully the one I'll finish !
This is my first Cafe build:

XJ900 - Z650 fuel tank - skateboard based seat - stainless steel Ikea salad bowl fairing, brass rear light from a chandelier it was another trip...
So since my XJ900 will never see the light of day ( running on 3 cylinders and other issues, mainly in my mind... ) It will be a donor bike, since the front fork has 37mm tubes and the XV 36mm, I'm ( well a shop don't have a lathe ) going to machine 1mm out of the stock XV triple tree, plenty of meat there, this means I'll go from a 19" to a 18" wheel and from single to dual disk, with another cool fact, the XJ fork is 2.5" shorter, should be enough for the correct stance, if not I'll lower it some more...
As I've being told, and found out in a build here, that the rear XJ wheel is plug and play, so there I'll go from a 16" drum brake to a 18" disk brake.
What I did so far, not much, front wheel:

I'm currently shaving the fork legs since there wil be no fork brace nor fender.
To be followed...
