1977 BMW R100/7 Sarcoplasmic Cow Hellride

Just googled what a Cleco is. So that's what that thing is I keep seeing on fabricated panels. Do you then just spot weld the hole to close it? Filler?

Clecos are usually used with rivets or fasteners. Its a temporary holder to align lapped panels to drill holes before final fastening. Often used in aircraft panels (and airstream campers.)

Using clecos to align panels before welding is common, then just weld up the holes after. I first saw them used like that on the show "Bitchin Rides". There is a certain level of cheese on that show but the fabricators are top notch.

The stock BMW fenders are fiberglass. I cut out 3" from the center, aligned the seam, then used the cutout to reinforce underneath the fender with mat and resin. The cutout is held in by the Cleco fasteners until the resin hardened. The cutout also gave me an easy way insure the fender holds the same curve.

Nice!

Dang, that's smart! It's like I always say to @Hurco550, "That Irk, he sure is smarter than he looks!"

:D

I like it... totally post-apocolyptic. How are your calves against the pipes? I suspect you'll need to fabricate some stainless shields at some point.

There’s room, but no doubt I’m making shields. I know I’ll be burning legs otherwise.

Do it! Also, Irk what motorcycle lift are you using bud? That looks a bit nicer and more functioning than the HF setup
I traded some work for it, but I'm under the assumption this is the HF lift.

Oh right on, Irk. Have you had any issues with it ? I was going to build myself a lift but I think it would just be cheaper to get the HF deal if it will work properly for a winter.

Thanks guys I appreciate the feedback..... Irk, the bike looks rad as hell man. The tank, wheels, exhaust marry up very nicely, looks like something Mad Max would drive if he had a white-collar job haha
