Painting Switches

does anybody have an idea about painting the letters on this switch after I paint it black. I have tried a touch up pen from the auto parts store and it made a mess. Thank you
Eric

I would try either a 000 pinstriping brush , Or a fine detail brush in general should work. It might sound funny but a toothpick might even work, it's worth a shot.

ate, not as funny sounding as you might think. I'm a car painter with 30 years in the trade and i've lost count of the amount of timews i've used a toothpick for jobs exactly like that.

They're recessed so you SHOULD be able to go over them with the paint and wipe the excess away. Anything above the letter should wipe off, leaving the paint down in the lettering behind.

This is how I did it before, worked good. On my last bike however, I didn't even bother doing them, didn't seem to make sense, not like you ever read them, looks much cleaner without them.

Okay I don't feel so bad suggesting that now, Haha

Thanks for the replies I will try the toothpick idea and if that dosent work I will try the others and see what happens.

That's how I did it after attempting to use a wooden toothpick...kinda rough. I painted black then waited a few days and just brushed over the lettering and wiped off with my thumb and tight weave fabric damped with rubbing alchohol.
Pics probably be out of order but....

Fuel tank badges also...
