What's your EDC? (What is Every Day Carry?)

Leatherman wingman (Thanks Kiley) swiss army knife currently the climber model I believe and of course wallet and too many keys, and my cell phone which has replaced a flashlight and watch. all in my jeans and if anything is missing I can't eat or sleep until I find them and put them back LOL. The swiss army knife has been in my pocket in some versions since I was 8. the Leatherman was added in 2015 as a gift from Kiley and has kind of taken over what the knife used to do, but I still carry the knife, mostly for the tweezers now.

Now that the world is in the virus pandemic with no real end in sight, EDC has changed. I put more emergency items in my vehicle than I used to and carry a few more items on my person as well. I've been a concealed carry license holder for years so that is now part of my kit more often than not. Don't forget water filtration, first aid kits, emergency rations, fire starters, knifes, tools, solar battery packs for device charging, etc. It's not the end of the world but items like these have been recommended by the CDC in "go bag" form for years. This particular model was the economy multi tool by Leatherman standards, but it has a main feature that I really like as a welder. The Cutters are replaceable. I snip a lot of mig wire with it and a decent amount have TIG filler. I've replaced the cutter is a couple times and at $12 a set that are not terribly exorbitant for as much abuse as they take. I've also tweaked and tightened more Fasteners on motorcycles than I could count with this thing.

Ha! Forgot about my Leatherman (Leathermen?). Old school Gerber and a Mini Leatherman w/ an engraved Honda Wing logo. The Gerber is pretty heavy so I quit carrying it a few years ago but that little leatherman got pulled out of a drawer and has found a home on my belt where it belongs.

I recently bought small Olight flashlight for my EDC and it's worthy for me, It's working cool at dark side

My old one working good but It's taking more space and non-waterproof.

I just compared all like budget , size, rechargeable etc. Reviews from Best Flashlight helped me to found the best for my EDC

I feel no need to carry fire arms in the communities I travel and live, counting on those that do (primarily those we pay to) to handle problems. Don't have the training, temperment, or skill (good with a rifle, awful with handguns) myself.

This isn't about firearms so much as what to you have on you everyday for life happening. Some folks have the firearms but most if us just have the pocket tools etc.

That's right. I know that some consider a firearm as part of their EDC, I don't believe it's the rule. I do have a Concealed Carry permit for Ohio but rarely carry, preferring, as @pidjones said to leave the serious protection to the trained professionals. I think one misconception of those who are against CCW or those who don't understand it think that those who carry are hoping to become heroes if the Walmart they are in happens to get held up. CCW is for necissary personal protection not for trying to be a hero. Mostly I carry when I travel and under certain conditions when working for our auctioneer friends.

Yep. Since we have no such thing here we can't even consider it LOL.

I got an Olight as well. I did lots and lots of research and ended up choosing the Olight 3TEOS that uses a single AAA battery. I really wanted a rechargeable but I figured that inevitably every time I'd go to use it the thing would charged so the compact size of the Olight won out. 180 Lumens is pretty good output for a light this size. Their 5T has an output of 300 lumens from a single AA battery.



I did get the little Harbor Freight rechargeable at a decent sale price and it's a very nice light but it's longer than I wanted to deal with inside the bag. It would be ideal to carry it clipped to your belt or on the edge of your pocket. Rated at 140 Lumens, it's bright enough to be very usable,



One of the nice things about both the Olight and the HF is that once turned off the internal system reverts back to the beginning of the cycle. What I mean by that is that many of the cheaper LED lights have to be cycled through a Bright/Dim/Flash cycle every time they are used. These don't do that. If you turn it off and then turn it back on it comes back on in "Bright." Click and it goes to "Dim" and click again and it goes to "Flashing." It's annoying to use one of the cheaper lights and have it be in Flash mode when you turn it on. (Yeah, OK, maybe that's just me.)
