Moto Hoarding - post your list

Had a snow day today (perk of being a school teacher) and thought that it was finally time to culminate my present and past bike collections into a spreadsheet. Turns out that I've owned 53 bikes (that I can remember). Some of which I still have, and most of which have moved on.

The spreadsheet also contains Purchase/Sale Price and Purchase/Sale Dates as well as who I bought from and sold to.

If it has proven anything its that I enjoy the hobby, which is good because I haven't made much real money on it hahaha

The list is in the order of purchase. The ones highlighted are the ones that I still own.

Dang, I knew there had been a bunch but... buddy, that list kinna reminds me of grains of sand through an hour glass!

Looking to do a similar set of mods to my 1965 C100 restoration. Is that Weber cam or cam specs available, When you bored out the C100 barrel to fit the 4mm bigger S-65, did you need to go with a bigger sleeve or could you just bore out original cylinder sleeve? Any overheating issues with overbore and 10:1 compression? Issues with fitting S-65 piston, valve clearance in pockets okay or did you need to mill? Stock exhaust? I have Webcam springs with Ti retainers currently.

Sorry for the sidetrack but I have to ask about this one. I have a 66 c100 with a 4mm overbore and s65 piston but never heard of a Weber (Web Cam) camshaft being available. Was it a manufactured item or a custom grind? Also, did you deck the cylinder head to up the CR or it that just what it was after the piston upgrade?
I'm interested in doing the same mods to my 1965 C100 to make it more viable in Toronto traffic. I have Webco valve springs and retainers which help it rev but the S-65 piston I'd like to try. Did you manage to bore out the cylinder with no issues of too thin a liner afterwards or overheating?

The head took the large bore just fine. No liner needed. Can't say anything about overheating because it's not a bike I ride very a long distance or time. If I wanted to ride it more I'd honestly p robably look at bolting on a 125 Honda clone (like a Lifan) and saving the pushrod motor for preservation.
 
Interesting thread.
Here's my bike history from age 17–on, broken down into those I actually had on the road, and the perpetual projects in green.
You can see that I lean toward small displacement bikes, two-strokes, and four-stroke singles.
Out of my current projects, the Bultaco Pursang and the Panther are just about finished. The other two will, um, be a while yet.

(And yes, that's a Honda ATC250R engine sitting in the Benelli frame. That may or may not happen, but it's looks very do-able, and I think it'd make for an outstanding bike.)

"Bultakenstein" is wearing late '70s/early '80s Suzuki cast wheels. The 19" front is from a GS850, the 17" rear is from a GS450T. Because they're fairly narrow tube-type rims, you can pick them up for almost nothing nowadays. The wheels on the Benelli are two front wheels from Yamaha's XVZ1200/1300 Venture touring bike (120/90-18 tire size). I'd never done something with that balloon-tire bobber look and just wanted to go different. And, again, they're dirt cheap.

The other project bike was built specifically to use up all the spare parts I had taking up room in my shop. As a result, there's a lot of oddball parts that I ordinarily wouldn't (and previously didn't) choose to use on a custom bike. But I'd had a VTR250 front wheel and brake sequestered away behind my workbench since 2006. I matched it with a Ninja 500 rear wheel because the spokes look similar to the front and would fit a matching tire. I just recently finished painting the VTR wheel Kawasaki "Gentry Gray" to match the rear. I painted the center panels black to mimic the look of the Honda MVX250F, the first Honda to have the inboard disk. The thing looks tons better NOT in shocking white.

1963 Honda CL72 ex race bike. In the someday pile.
3- 1970s Honda CB750 SOHC bikes (75, 76, 77) in various stages of completion. I'm losing my love for them so no hurry.
1973 Harley Sportster built out of a bunch of unrelated parts. I know where I want to go with it and it is slowly moving in that direction.
1979 Harley Sportster XLS originally bought to build a chopper but turned into a resto mod. I should have built the chopper it would be faster, easier and less expensive. 1992 Honda CB250 Nighthawk. A left over from my sons projects.
1986 Honda CMX250 Rebel- made entirely from parts starting with a bare frame. A mini bobber/chopper?
I can't remember the year of this 250 Kawasaki Ninja but it's here. It really needs to find a new home. Titled, running, new battery, bright yellow paint and aftermarket exhaust.
1965 Honda S65 with a Lifan 125cc engine. Still a pile of unpainted parts thanks to our ever increasing humidity and absolutely unpredictable weather.
1969 Triumph TR25 (250cc) single stripped for the dirt. Its loud, leaks oil and I love it.
The long anguish with the much despised 1974 or 75 Honda CL360. About 90% done but my absolute hatred for 360s prevents me from actively working on it.
A 1959 Cushman Eagle scooter rat project. It will probably get a 420cc Predator engine in the near future.
1974 Yamaha TX650. A family heirloom. The new owner is in the process of being born today. I'll continue to be the caretaker until either he or his mother roll it out of the building.
A Jr50 Suzuki and a ALT50 Suzuki. Left over's from when our son's were little guys. The ALT is all original right down to the tires. The Jr needs reassembly as it was absolutely abused on the mini race tracks. I have been replacing parts with NOS when I find them.
Bits and pieces of a Mustang Motorcycle from the 50s. It's a puzzle that is getting too expensive to contemplate.
Another Yamaha 80 Chappy but not running at this time. I seem to be a magnet for these things the last one just left.
2017 Can Am Ryker trike. I cannot say enough about how much fun this thing has been. I would buy another one with absolutely no hesitation. I can't say that about a whole lot of machines I've owned.

What has left in last two years
1971 Honda CB750. A factory perfect bike that I built from parts starting with the frame. It went to a collector in Australia. As stated I'm losing my love for 750s.
A 1991 Harley Evo rigid frame chopper I built from swap meet parts. A nice bike and I do regret selling it.
2 Harley 45 choppers, a 1951 and a 1953. Absolutely regret selling them.
1984 Harley Shovelhead FLHS built from OE parts. I lusted after one in 1984 and hated it when I finished building one in 2002.
An untitled Harley Shovelhead chopper/bobber in a rigid frame, stock length springer, etc. Assembled out of parts, the engine had Delkron cases so it would have required a state issued assembled motorcycle inspection/title. I didn't want to go through the hassle. Sold it to the same guy who bought the 84 FLHS.
1959 BSA A10 and a 1968 BSA A65F. Neither will be missed.
A Buell Blast, titled, ran good. Sold to a friend's niece. No regrets it was colleting dust.
The aforementioned Chappy. A fun little scooter/mini bike thing.

When I used to race one, I built several versions/iterations and collected all sorts of part and after I sold my last CB72 racer I started to accumulate more parts. What was it that Einstein said about insanity and repeating behavior....

It has a sordid history. It was raced on the 1/4 mile dirt (gumbo) oval at Riverside Speedway in West Memphis, AR. At some point it was taken across the river and raced on the paved 1/2 mile oval at Lakeland in Memphis. During the early 70s someone put it back on the street as a very gaudy custom bike. It floated through various owners until it was taken apart and left in the front yard of an old plantation north of Memphis. It was given to me as a parts bike by a fellow inmate known as Scruffy. I was working for the USDA in Little Rock, AR at the time. My wife and I drove to Memphis, picked up everything we could find, and went back home. A couple of days later she helped me assemble it in the back of the pickup. (Marry a good woman and you will always have a partner in crime). Surprisingly we did a good job of getting all the parts. I have not been inside the engine. As it stands, it is not worth restoring but I think it would be a good project for a flat track race replica. As you said, parts are expensive for these old dinosaurs. I do love a well done CB77 so I hope you put your parts together. As for insanity...I'm a descendent of Ben Franklin and there is both genius and insanity in that family line. It's up to the observer where I fit in! LOL!
 
I was thinking about this just today as I work through the process of registering my 11 year project bike.

1972 Honda CB500 - first bike I actually rode - sold it
1976 Honda CB550 - bought, restored, rode then sold for good $$$$
* 1971 Motobecane Moped - given to me by original owner, still in the garage in a few pieces
* 1975 BMW R75/6 - bought in 2007 or so with the CB550 proceeds and is my daily rider
1977 Honda CB750 - bought for the turbo kit and Rickman fairing it had on it - sold the turbo, tank etc. and then sold the rest
1972 Yamaha XS650 - cafe racer project over 10 years - sold to buy a KLR650
1971 Yamaha XS650 - bought as parts bike for front end, sold
1977 Yamaha XS650 - bought for the motor which is now in the Voodoo frame - sold the rest
2014 Kawasaki KLR650 - enjoyed it but too big/heavy - sold to buy a DRZ400S
