So i just rebuilt the top end and i cant get her to start. the points were fine before i took it apart and its not 180 out. to me, she sounds thirsty. last owner rebuilt the carbs about a year ago so i think they are just gunked up from fuel sitting for the past few months while i did the...
I just got the engine finished. Got stuck on the timing and got some help. put it all back together, turns over by hand great with no contact but she wont crank. after a few kicks she backfires but thats about it. I've got fire on both sides but still nothing.

doing a top end job on my 74 honda cb500t. its more gunked up in there than I thought. rather than scrubbing it to death, i wanted to see if there is a solution or "bath" I can just soak the top end in for a day/few hours to just help clean it up and loosen some of the caking. Or, do i just...

Im trying to do a top end job on my 74 honda cb500t. I'm new to bikes. The bike has been running fine, no real problems. drained the oil, took it off the frame, removed the side covers, but I can't seem to rotate the timing chain to find the master link. any reason can't turn it?
the oil has...
