    1981 nighthawk 750

If you might dig a bobber, Nighthawk can work. I used a donor 650 for the attached, but very similar to what you are considering.

Need help re jetting my carbs

The folks at this site have been excellent in helping me in the past. I have had bikes not on their website listing (which is also the case for your CB360)...but they carry things beyond what is listed, so contacting them is a good idea. They will walk you through all you need to know to...

    Smoking head help

Is it possible that you are running too lean? With pods, the air/fuel mixture should probably be checked (along with rejetting)...otherwise, that motor may be running way hotter than it should be...needs more fuel in the mix to "cool things down".

Is this fix really dumb or sorta smart?

If budget is really tight, you could purchase just the viton o-rings from various internet sources, or get lucky at a hardware store. If you do enough research on parts lists and diagrams, you can eventually find the actual measurements of the o-rings. Give everything else a real good cleaning...

Is this fix really dumb or sorta smart?

I have used them on a few occasions and they have worked out fine. But...perhaps I was just lucky as I have heard some opposite reports. However, going with a kit from someplace like Dime City is pretty much guaranteed to be superb or they will replace it. I have been known to buy one generic...

Is this fix really dumb or sorta smart?

One rule of thumb that has served me well with carb work and older bikes in general: When putting things together that are adjustable, the final setting should be somewhat close to "the middle". Usually, taking an adjustment to one extreme or the other in order for the bike to work correctly...

Issues adjusting A/F mix on CB550F — I've hit a wall dialing these in

I run exactly the same with no issues. It took me a lot of fiddling to land at this setup using trial and error...but that's where I ended up. On another 550 build I did later, I mirrored these settings from the start and that bike has run perfectly from Day 1. IMHO, rejetting is necessary when...

Only starts when one sparkplug is removed?

Helping a far-away friend diagnose a strange condition on 1983 Honda cb650SC Nighthawk with only 2700 miles. Bike was running fine for quite some time. Carbs drained and bike stored for about 3 months. New battery installed, fresh fuel added. Starter and engine spinning but will not turn over...

    1976 CB550F "Barn Find"

Easy now...breathe....Not the 8 hex covers to adjust the tapets.I was referncing the entire cover that the tapet covers screw into (In other words, the entire valve cover). If you ever take the entire cover off to replace the valve cover gasket or do some other maintenance that requires you to...

    1976 CB550F "Barn Find"

Commenting on your question about the Dyna-s. For me, it was the best investment I made on the 550. Not sure if this was mentioned in this thread, but something all 500/550 owners MUST know. If you ever take the valve cover off, please check out youtube and the socomotor cb500 engine rebuild...

    Appliance paint vs powder coat

Powder is always the first choice...but I have to say, the appliance epoxy has not disappointed me. I have used it on frames, wheels, fork lowers, etc. with great results. The key is to prep the area and apply the paint properly. Don't cut corners, don't rush, follow the instructions. And if you...

    CB550 Head Gasket Replacement

I concur. However, pulling the motor is not as scary as you might first think...and I think that it will be quite difficult to remove/reinstall the cam with the frame in the way. I took the motor out entirely by myself using 2 stools on either side of the bike with a pipe running between. Used...

Cb360 - slow speed 'twitchiness' on turn in.

Steering stem nut? Can make a difference if it was originally torqued on the ground or if front wheel was elevated.

    1974 Honda CB550K Help

Can you tap the bolt holes, even if you have to go up slightly in size? Get some nice allen head screws for replacement? Maybe use small locking nuts with longer screws? Either way, much cheaper. One other thing I ran into on my 550...get all of the basics where they should be...clean carbs...

    CB550 Upper Fork Cover

Black fork gators like on a dirt bike that are cut down could give that scrambler look...lots of generic sources out there. Maybe get a close enough match for the 550's lower gators. Maybe try wandering around Home Depot a bit...take the fork or an exact replica to check diameters of stuff...
