Looks like a great platform for a scrambler or cafe! Charles.

    Forsa 'cheap' rear shocks?

Those Ramshox do sound interesting. But to use a shock with 4" of travel I'd have to build a belt tensioner. Belt drive and suspension travel are not friends. I'm happy with what I have for now. Maybe before my big alaska trip next year I'll upgrade to a longer suspension shock (and build the...

What did you build this week?

My new SCR950 has a seat with tabs at the back, and then is bolted on at the front. To get the seat off, the left sidecover must be removed, then the seat unbolted and removed. There is a TON of under-seat storage space that's not easily accessible. I replaced the screws on the sidecovers with...

What did you build this week?

I'll look into it. My mod is completely reversible, so I can try other ideas. Charles

What did you build this week?

Yeah, that'd be nice, but my seat just has a metal tab sunk into the plastic, with no easy way to mount a latch like that. Charles.

What did you build this week?

My SCR950 has a ton of under-seat storage... but the seat is bolted on, so the only easy access is by taking off a sidecover... with a screw. I replaced the sidecover screws with knurled stainless thumbscrews.... but still wasn't so happy. Sidecovers are expensive and delicate. Soooooo I came up...

What did you build this week?

Longer shocks, red fork boots, and a sidestand extension. FORSA shocks for a Sportster needed new metal spacers inside the rubber bushings, and I had to cut and grind the brake line bracket so the swingarm would clear the stock muffler mount. Fork boots were not easy to secure. Had to cut...

    Forsa 'cheap' rear shocks?

There wasn't much available back then. They were marketed for the CB750, and I put them on a CX500. 36lbs of difference between those two bikes. Plus my fat arse. They should have been at least usable. But I digress, they were junk back then. I'd be willing to give them another try. However, the...

    Forsa 'cheap' rear shocks?

I bought a set of those RFY shocks about 8 years ago, and they were junk. Extremely stiff and unusable, and at that time the bushings were 2-piece plastic jobbies. Apparently they're better now, as the images I find on eBay are of better castings, there are more length options (11" was the max...

    Forsa 'cheap' rear shocks?

I bought a set of FORSA 12.25" shocks made for a Sportster, and used them on my SCR950. The shocks quite simply feel *just* like the OEM 230-mile shocks I removed, with the exception that they don't bottom when I hit a speed hump at 40mph. (They have half an inch more travel than my stock...

Tubing bender or roller for exhaust?

Actually, the two different bends are for two different systems. One for dual 1.5" pipes, one for a single 1.75" pipe. The 1.75" pipe is the important one. If I can reproduce, it's essentially a single-bend midpipe that would allow one to use any 1.75" OD muffler on stock headers, saving owners...

Tubing bender or roller for exhaust?

Because that won't look very nice, and it's a lot of fitting and labor and the bends themselves are expensive. If I want to make 30 of these, I'd rather bend 30 tubes than cut and weld 60 tubes. And they'd look nice. Charles.

Tubing bender or roller for exhaust?

I'm looking to buy a tubing bender that can handle thin wall (16ga) steel and stainless steel tubing, 1.5" and 1.75" OD. I want to make a midpipe slip-on for my bike, and maybe make a handful of copies to sell on eBay to cover the costs of the bender and materials. I need to make one 8 degree...

Post a pic of your latest purchase

This would be my latest purchase... 2017 Yamaha SCR950. Got it last week, still has under 200 miles on it (blasted cold and rain). You see it here with the fender relocation already completed and new 12.25" shocks installed. They have to come back off until I can build an idler for the belt...

Not sure where to post this. JC Whitney out of the motorcycle parts business.

I've bought tons and tons of EMGO oil and air filters over the years. Crash guards and tank bags, chrome trim farkles and tires, levers and tubes, grips and footpegs, windshields and sissy bars, luggage racks and saddlebags, you name it, I've probably bought it for one of the 18 bikes I've had...
