    1980 GN400 Revival

It looks like I can find a OE CDI for $300 or so using the part number. Unfortunate, but maybe I better grab one. As far as my issues, the next day the bike was running perfectly. Two rides later, still no issues. I’m happy, but also confused.

    1980 GN400 Revival

Hey, guys. Switched gears and got a new project. I got this GN400 last summer after my uncle passed away. It was stored in a shed for about 36 years and I drug it out and am putting it back on the road. What I’ve done so far: Carb clean Tires Wheel bearings Battery Front brake system replaced...

    Suzuki GN400 Lighting Issue

Matt gave me some good info that the missing resistor is not my main problem. I discovered today that my light switch needs some cleaning - it only works about half the time. The only lights that work are front turn signals, and they don’t light up until about 3,000 rpm. There’s no battery in...

    Suzuki GN400 Lighting Issue

Thanks. We’ll see if he sees this thread. I’d like to avoid modifying anything for now. At least until I can determine the cause of my problem.

Here’s a clue I found online. I don’t see anything mounted to my frame like is described here.

    Suzuki GN400 Lighting Issue

Hey guys, I’m trying to fix a no lights issue while repairing some old mouse-chewed wiring. My wiring diagram shows a white/blue, pink, and green/white going from the magneto to the light switch. At the magneto, the green/white is supposed to run through a resistor and tie into white/blue. The...

    Zach’s 1980 CB650 Custom Project

Well, I’m mid-carb rebuild and it’s decision time. I’ve gotten a Suzuki GN400 for free that I’d like to shift my attention to. I’ll be into the CB for more money than I like, $500 alone for a title. Plus I have family history with the Suzuki. So, what to do with the CB? Part it out or sell it...

    Zach’s 1980 CB650 Custom Project

Update: Got all of the lights working. The issue was....drum roll please...a loose ground. There is a little spade inside the headlight housing that needed a ground wire. Doh! Learned my lesson on a quick and dirty carb rebuild. I didn’t want to separate the carbs so I just cleaned what I...

    Zach’s 1980 CB650 Custom Project

Hey, guys. Got my very first motorcycle in a trade. It’s a 1980 CB650C with just over 5k miles. It hasn’t run in quite a while. This is going to be a two phase project. Phase 1: get it operational as soon as possible and cruise around. Phase 2: make it nice, maybe turn into into a sort of...
