Sorry I couldn't resist. I found this Ducati GT1000 and I just couldnt resist. So new from today I have 4 Ducatis. Well maybe 1.75. One 1993 900 SuperLight needs new electrics. One 1975 500GTL needs alot of new parts. One DIY frankenstein Ducati engine and parts from other makes. And a 2008...
Started cleaning engine parts. Engine case turned out really nice. Needs new bearings and gaskets. Head needs some welding. Camshaft is still headache. But all in all looks good.
Hi. Not long ago I mentioned that I was restoring the wheels. Finaly yesterday I picked them up.
Cross-center in Habo Sweden is one of not to many companys in the world that makes spokes. Torbjörn who owns the company has made the machine that makes the spokes.
It's not cheap 3000sek a wheel...
YES.
I think I need an other hobby.
Maybe collecting stamps. But I bet that has other problems. Poisonous glue or you open a window and the wind reorganize them all.
Well I'm not worried about the engine. I will solve it.
It will take some time, but it will be running again. Maybe not this...
Well this sucks.
Looked a bit closer on the camshaft.
I need a new one. It's completely worn down due to lack of lubrication.
And one piston is kaput.
Rings are broken and ring land is broken.
Guess am taking a break from this one and try to see if it's possible to get some more parts.
Good...
Thanks Crazy. I never seen one in sweden.
I hope I will have the plesure to ride it sometime in the future.
Today I removed the head and cylinder.
I think this is going to be an expensive engine rebuild.
At some point someone got the camshafts out of synk. I found a valve imprint in the left...
Minor hickup on the wheels so you have to wait for an update on them. However I promise the end result is going to be good.
Both carburetors are done.
So todays job was to make a engine stand.
Pretty pleased with the result.
Next up will be to pull the engine apart.

One carb done, one to go.
Both where completely stuck and I have been soaking them in degreaser for weeks. Then they have been in the ultrasonic cleaner for a long time. Soon both are done with new gaskets and seals.

A month ago when I went through the front calipers two parts was missing from the one of the repair kits. So new part was ordered.
Yesterday I got a box filled with new parts. :)
Also I changed my mind as I had cheated with the one caliper I did. The pistons was a bit pitted, not too much, but...
Yes. Alot of measuring. 18 hours to weld one up.
But it was a nice project.
One frame was made for a friend but he gave up with his car so I'm stuck with an extra frame.
Maybe I will use it for a race car I'm collecting parts for.
But first some personal things need to be solved.

Thanks. Yes its a great project. It's going slow at the moment. It's been in the family since 1986. It's been driven alot. But I finally realized it needed to be restord.
Well back to the Ducati.
All the aluminium parts are heavily oxidized so I'm doing some glas bead blasting. Here are a...
