Building a seat/cowl on the OEM seat pan (CB350)

Well, I had totally forgotten about this thread but found it while searching for "original seat pan". The good news is that it's possible to build a beautiful cowling on the OEM seat pan. But now I'm trying to figure out how to foam up a seat. I've shot a layer of Great Stuff on there and...

Converting stock tach and/or speedo to electronic

Well, I'm sorry to say, after all the effort that you guys put in to this topic, that I've decided the stock gauges just don't work on this build. They're just too big. I'm now looking for something electronic to eliminate the tach and speedo cables, but just in a much smaller package...

Converting stock tach and/or speedo to electronic

Good. Lord. Sonrier - thanks for your efforts on this. I guess I'll take a shot at it even if that's an intimidating amount of info in one post.

Converting stock tach and/or speedo to electronic

Did you do any write up on it anywhere? I have basically zero electronics/programming knowledge and am looking for any info just to get started.

Converting stock tach and/or speedo to electronic

I've spent a few hours searching to see if anyone has successfully converted their stock gauges from mechanical to electronic. I have a 71 CB350 and I'd like to retain the stock gauges/housing/faceplates, etc, but try to eliminate the cables. It seems like there are several threads out there...

    1971 CB350 build

So everything is back from fab and paint. It's absolutely brilliant. Re-assembled: And now finishing up the wiring:

    1971 CB350 build

Since I started this thread, I suppose I should update it. I've been working on the bike pretty regularly. Since February, I sent the starter out to get it's demon excised. Got the engine totally reassembled and back in the frame. And after a lot of fiddling, I got it running! I think...

    1972 CL 350 Cafe Project

We have pretty similar builds going... Who makes the gauges?

    1972 CL 350 Cafe Project

Hey - nice build. I'm curious - can you explain or post some pics of your final arrangement with the battery tray, solenoid and reg/rec? Also, what did you do about the front brake light switch?

Building a seat/cowl on the OEM seat pan (CB350)

OK - I'm finally starting to find the right keywords to turn up some old posts on various forums about this. And I think you're right - it won't work with the existing seat pan. I'm not willing to cut the frame, so I think the seat pan will have to go entirely (don't want to cut that either)...

Building a seat/cowl on the OEM seat pan (CB350)

I'm struggling trying to figure out if it's possible/logical to build a cowling on the OEM seat pan and I'm looking for info from anyone that has actually done it. I'm using this bike as inspiration: The article with this pic quoted the owner saying that the seat and cowling were built over...

    Project Log - '72 CB350

Agree with Ethan. Those are some nice custom parts - something I probably need to consider. And I've spent hundreds of hours polishing parts, including the shocks and they don't look anywhere close to yours. Maybe I'll get some vapor blasting done.

    1971 CB350 build

I still don't know why it wouldn't spin, but after assembling, disassembling, re-assembling (repeat 2x), I finally got one to spin freely. I think something in the windings was interfering with the armature. It's back in the engine and the engine is turning over (no fuel yet). That's a huge...

    1971 CB350 build

I've discovered that the starter was "bad". I don't even know what that really means other than it won't spin. I *should* know, because I rebuilt it two years ago, but I don't. So I've pulled the parts bike starter and broke it down. I'm pretty sure I have a whole other rebuild kit...

    1971 CB350 build

Everything is back in now except for the exhaust. It has power and oil, but no gas yet. I'm trying to work out the electrical, but this is really the weakest point in my already weak skill set. I have a reproduction stock harness, a Sparckmoto retifier/regulator and a stock starter relay. The...
