Thanks folks. Herm's videos helped me visualize a little bit more of the process. One thing I did notice is that he used a flat seat base. CCRider started by forming to the contours underneath the seat, which I liked. Any suggestions on where to get materials?

Where do you get the foam? How do you build structural strength with the fiberglass?

In terms of buying something off the shelf? Good luck. It seems as though owners off these bikes have long believe that in order to create a solo cafe seat, you must remove the hoop. Also, the frame is surprisingly long from tank to the end of the hoop, and it would take some fancy...
