Re: "Doing it Right" or "How to Build a Functional Café Racer" Nope, i also have a Gs1000g which i rebuilt, and the number 2 piston still has some intermittent smoking. Not bad, but after that much work, there should be none...

So, if i read correctly, the general idea is to keep in lower gear and ride around revving the hell out of the engine? Totally the opposite of everything ive been told in the past... i will love that, but im sure my neighbourhood will go ballistic! so, suggestions here,,, the smoke isnt very...

Nope, no hard riding, all gentle 300rpm region. Ive been told by a lot of people who know more than me that i have to take it easy during run in or i will ruin the rebore and new rings. i was also having carb nightmares, and still charging issues, but carbs are finally done, and once the...

Thanks guys, i will check these tips out. Ive been scratching my head over this for too long now. 2 different shops have given me the thumbs up after sending it for testing, but the pike has different ideas... 2 days of runabout riding, battery is flat, so i thought, maybe i wasnt ririding far...

I have ordered my gauges, hopefull they will be at home waiting for me by the time i get back. I think these will look amazing once they are on the bike and wired in. Apparently its a bit of a mission, but well worth it in the end

A quick update, my new lever assemblies are in the post, nothing special, off ebay. They will do fine until i can one day source bigger calipers to replace the single pot ones. When this master cylinder goes on, i will get braided hoses and new pads to help improve the braking. I will give the...

She was near immacculate until I was knocked off by a non concentrating cager. The bike was totalled, but, having huge sentimental value, i decided to re-build rather than scrap. It has been a long frustrating road, but im nearly there. Fix an electrical nuisance, braided brake hoses and get my...

Ponderings regarding my seat pan... i am thinking of making a mould of my seat pan and making a cafe style seat hump using that mould...( i am going to try preserve all the parts i replace, so one day, if i get another cx as a restoration project, i will have a box to rummage in. Yes, i know, i...
