1975 Cb125s Barn Find

Hey everybody. My name is Dom and I just got myself a cool little cb125. It's the first bike I've had in over 7 years so I am excited to tinker on it.

A few weeks ago my dad texted me a pic of a dusty old motorcycle under a tarp and said "Interested?". Long story short, a lady who lives right next door to my work has had this thing for many years. It's been sitting since 1999. A few days later I purchased it for $300 (came with title), loaded it into our minivan and it's now at my house.

At this point I just want to get it road worthy and running well. Then may decide something different for a winter project.

This will be my first time working on something like this...

The first thing I did was clean the tank. It was pretty nasty but vinegar did the trick. Then I cleaned the carb, replaced the plug, changed the oil and guess what....she started right up! We have a runner! First time running since 1999.

Now it needs some new parts....will be ordering some stuff this weekend. Tires, cables, etc. Won't be focusing on "cafe" style parts until its running and driveable.

That bike has really nice bones man.. and was kept indoors this whole time; Did you ever consider just getting it running strong, making it your own but keeping it mostly stock instead of doing the cafe thing and potentially hacking it all up?

Yes! I still am considering that. In fact, once it is running I will drive it with the current setup. If I like it, there is a good chance I’ll keep it mostly stock.

Good deal, dude.

I like that blue. Wish little CB100 was that color.

For whatever reason, those CB100's bring silly money around here. I'd keep it stock or with reversible mods.

Yep, trying to keep it as stock as possible.

Had to bore it .50mm over, with new piston.

How is your project going? I just got the exact same '75 cb125s that hasn't been started in at least as much time as yours. I'm working on cleaning out the garage so I can have space to work on this nice machine. (going to be nice... before it came to me it was stored outside under a tarp... until the tarp rotted away.)

Yep, curious too.

Some more pics, too...would be nice.

Cool bike. I have a CM185T in similar blue. It was a freebie with a title. Burnt up voltage reg and wiring. Needs love. It was a McDonalds workers daily commuter for years. Some day I will find a 6 volt reg at a reasonable price and make it a scrambler style ride for my wife. Whatever you do with your bike... to quote Traffic "Do what you like!"
