BMW R90/6.. TAT G/S Tribute

No, you absolutely need another airhead. Seriously. You do. For real.

I guess I need to do more research. I thought it raised it, but still kept it inline and back on the shaft. You're right about conflicting info.

Really all i need is another engine, preferably /5 or /6 to go in this spare chassis I have. They are kinda tough to find around here, but every once in a while I see them advertised for a fair price in the states.

Edit: Like this, but I do not have a spare $1k nor a way to get it back from Texas..

I got the big brake kit mounted up last night. It was a little scary taking a oscillating saw to the fork legs to cut the O.G. caliper mounts down to clear the new bracket, but all is well that ends well.

In hindsight I should have ordered the brake line about an inch longer, as I had to make a stand off tab to hold the line a bit farther back to keep it from pulling tight on a full lock right turn. I will be making a hoop type over the fender brace though, so it shouldn't be an issue long term as I will make a better bracket that just mounts directly to one of the hoops.

I need to bleed the new set up out and replace the cable running to the master and hopefully take it for a test romp in the next couple of days.

Looks fantastic. That'll have brakes so good you'll want to keep stopping all the time!

Thanks fellas.

I got the bike put back together enough for a little 100 mile or so run to scrub in the new rubber and seat in the pads.

I guess in a word the new brake would be described as "good". Not grabby or mind blowing, but adequate and a huge improvement. I'd say it's right where it needs to be to safely use the bike in 2021 traffic.

The new tires handled all the dirt roads I could find. I'm excited to get a full day to head east to find some more dirt roads.

I rode the out by Mohican/Greer/Butler this afternoon and got onto some more dirt and gravel roads.

One particular Road rapidly turned into what I would call a farm path more so than a road, though it still had township road signs on it. I got to the top and there were two older dudes sitting there on four wheelers. One of them said of all the things that they thought they would see come by on that road, an old BMW street bike wasn't on the list. Not gonna lie, that made me smile a bit lol

The other dude said that he has "one of them old R90S" BMW's sitting in his late father's garage. I got his contact and he will be sending me pictures. Goes to show that you never know what you'll come across on a random rural Ohio "road".

An R90S? Holy crap!
It supposedly had been wrecked at some point, and had a tracy style body of sorts on it. He is supposed to send me pics. I am hoping that it at least has a usable engine and i can get it cheap enough to build up a real ADV bike an sell off the rest of the S specific parts. We shall see though.

I fabbed up a hoop type fork brace tonight. This will mostly serve to gain me tire clearance and lift the fender about 1/2", which should help if I get into mud. Added bonus will be less noodly forks I hope. I still need to weld on a few fender mount tabs and give it a coat of paint.

Just an FYI: That threaded rod is going to interfere with your wheel. Thought you would like to know.
