1975 Yamaha RD350 - Engine noise after engine seizure repair

You figure out what the problem was?

I tried that Mike, didn't help. Even with the bolt in and db killer installed, there was still enough gap for exhaust to escape through and make an absolute racket. Tried washers, didn't help. Tinnitus-inducing, no shit

Definitely looks cool. I have that same Delkevic on my Super Sport. It's a decent system, the only issue I had with it was a noise in certain gears and at certain speeds coming out the can. Turns out it was the bolt hole (where the db killer bolts to) channeling exhaust and creating a lot...

I've pulled a couple of these CB lumps out now - my back hurts just looking at that photo. They are heavy bastards to put it mildly. Rebuilding the engine too? Dig that Buell - is that front brake rotor stock?

Hasn't happened yet - hoping to get it out tomorrow but forecast is for wall to wall rain. Weather's sucking balls here

Well, stopped the leak. Got the carbs properly installed with the airbox (polished all the seats this time with the drill/q-tip), fired it up, no leak. Next step is to take the bike out again for a ride and see if gets past 45 mins without crapping out.

Yeah tried that, didn't work for me though

    1982 CB750F...Better Devil

At this point I'm not even being cautiously optimistic. These carbs have been in and out so many times now that I've learnt not to expect much until I know I'm in the clear. But one new thing I've learnt is the q-tip in the drill routine (thanks doc). I'd just been manually twizzling the...

However, tell you what I didn't do before and that's stick the q-tip in the drill. Along with switching out a known good needle (from non-leaking carb 2) with the needle from carb 1 (which was leaking), I re-polished the seat (thanks a lot for the tip) and then tried hooking up a gas supply to...

    My floats are plastic
  13. Jimbonaut

    1982 CB750F...Better Devil

Thanks Mike, I'll do that. I know when I eyeballed the floats before there were no signs of cracks and no gas inside. But maybe it's hairline, and a tiny amount is getting it without me seeing it. I'll try that technique and see what happens. Are the floats repairable? The new ones I have...

    1982 CB750F...Better Devil

Only visually. I'll try submerging the questionable float in gas and see if any bubbles escape. I'll also try swapping out known good float assembly components in carb 2, 3 or 4 with the leaky set-up in carb 1 and see if I can narrow down the buggered part be it the float, needle or seat...

    1982 CB750F...Better Devil

Pretty sure the accelerator pump assembly is working well but maybe there's a blockage somewhere in the nozzles. I know #1 is borked now, not sure about the others but I do remember checking when I rebuilt the things and I'm pretty sure it was all fine then. I'll pull the thing - again - and...

Thanks as always gents for your suggestions and insight. I rely on help 100% when I find myself in these situations, and remain hugely grateful for all of it. My ambition far exceeds my skillset, but the learning curve is priceless. Started off yesterday with a list, checked the thing twice...

    Choosing correct master cylinder

Having the same thing happen on my KLR. Bastard thing's rare as hen's teeth so finding any part for it is a headache, let alone a front brake rotor. But a front brake rotor is what I need alright - definite pulsing at slow speeds. Rotor's crooked as a dog's back leg
