My cb550 needs some help and I do too

They won't fit the stock 550 swingarm, which it looks like you've got - you need a clevis mount on the bottom of the shock. Also those shocks are around 20mm longer than stock, which will impact handling somewhat, something you'll want to at least consider. Are the stock shocks toast, or do you...

    CB500 resto

Nice, you're making short work of it! Brand new pipes, or tidy second hand pipes? Did you get spokes locally or overseas?

I'd like to nominate Goldy's impressive Norton Restoration (although I will be quite torn between it & Docs KZ.. :-\)

    CB350 Scrambler Siblings

Looking good! Couldn't quite tell from the pics, what are the colours on the tins - one in charcoal & one dark navy? I vote there needs to be an unpainted build in the future to showcase your impressive metal work.

Damn, nice find on the tank and sidecovers - what is the tank interior like? If you find yourself scratching your head at how some parts go back together at any stage, this thread is an invaluable resource to have handy. (,151576.0.html)

    Paintitallred CB550 Scrambler Build

Re: Paintitallred CB550 Nice work, looks neat! Do you know how those side covers came to be? I've never seen screw mounted ones on a 550 before, has there been some fiberglass work done on the backsides? Pics of the alterations would be cool.

    Dangerous Explosion Possibility...engine.

If you're worried about, change the oil & then check it again soon after a few miles - if there's still signs of fuel, change it again if need be. It's a nice bike JW, what's the plans for it, stock or modified?

Another Dutch CB 400four cafe racer build

Nice work, looking good! Really dig the rear hoop mod you made, I don't know why more people don't do that instead of hacking their frame.

First Build CB550 Brat Style Cafe

What do you mean by pretty bad? As long as they aren't visibly damaged or corroded they're likely ok, even if a bit tarnished. A soak in some carb cleaner or acetone, followed up by running something like a 0.010 guitar string through all passages, followed by a blast to compressed air to...

First Build CB550 Brat Style Cafe

I believe that washer would be made of felt, not sure that it's easy to come by. Those carb rebuild kits you've got usually aren't made to the exact specs of the original brass hardware, and can often lead to tuning issues down the track. If you still have the original brass hardware from the...

    Running CB500 carbs on a CB550

I believe a 76' CB550K would have 022A carbs, which are essentially exactly the same as the 627B's, but with some slightly different settings which can be altered. The brass hardware can be switched between, and should fit up as normal. The table below might be of some help.
