    1975 Yamaha RD350(LC) Preservation-mod Hellride

We can see the base of the porcelain. I wasn't trying to play this off like an actual plug chop, but there's enough there to glean a general tune. The dyno will fill in the blanks. Really just focused on making it as good as it can be with a butt dyno and staying away from lean, so posting...

    1975 Yamaha RD350(LC) Preservation-mod Hellride

I have dyno time scheduled for tomorrow, but I am rescheduling due to a school event conflict. I was able to get a weigh in and the RD weighs in at a spritely 279 lbs wet, with a full tank of gas. I feel extremely happy with that number. I had hoped to be under 300 lbs.

    1975 CB360 Kickstart “stuck”

Can you kick start it with the clutch engaged? Sounds like the transmission is jammed somewhere.

Vintage forks with progressive springs, still not enough

I put CB650 forks on my RD350. I have been messing with different viscosity fork oils to lighten them up. You're limited by your springs, to a degree, but heavier fork oil can stiffen them up in damping and keep them from bottoming out. What it won't help you with is sag. I shim the springs...

    1975 Yamaha RD350(LC) Preservation-mod Hellride

Here's what I think I know: I'm not bothered by this plug. It's certainly rich, but from a performance standpoint, the bike has great power and smooth delivery. No flat spots or bog. The insulator is really good on top, a bit dark but not bad. The base of the insulator fades to dark and...

The Travelling Gremlen Bell! In Kentucky getting Rusty.

The Bell is currently with Chuck78 in Columbus, Ohio as passed on at this year's Mid-Ohio. We should make this happen.

    1975 Yamaha RD350(LC) Preservation-mod Hellride

It's back in business. Only ate through the plastic coating over the magnets in the rotor, so I cleaned it off the stator and turned the inside of the rotor on the lathe to remove the frayed plastic. Then I coated everything in shellac.

Yamaha DT250 Stray Mutt hard tail hellride.

What I've been finding is that even the smallest cc dirt bike tanks have been too long. Seems they need to be 15" or less in length. That TS tank is a great tank, though.

Good point. I have the perfect shelf already hung. Just need to set the offerings.

    1975 CB360 Kickstart “stuck”

Double check under your tappet covers and make sure they’re all there. Could be hitting a locknut against the cam chain, but I’m under the impression you can start it with the electric starter.

    1975 CB360 Kickstart “stuck”

Your kickstarter shaft is likely out of rotation. There's an arm on the shaft behind the cover that will engage a tab on the engine case if it's set wrong. I would take the cover off and reassemble the kickstarter.

Longer intake runners vs stock bolted carb to head Q's

Sounds like you lack velocity, so the carbs are reacting too slow, which is why the surging. If they're all pumpers, you're pooling for the same reason. Does feathering the throttle help compensate at the bottom end like an SBC with an oversized Holley?

Longer intake runners vs stock bolted carb to head Q's

Having an RD that's right at 300lbs and should dyno no less than mid-60s, I can fully attest to what that's like for urban riding. You keep a smile on your face.

Yamaha DT250 Stray Mutt hard tail hellride.

Back from Mid O and not much found for the DT chopper. I’m made another miss on a tank with an early KE tank. My favorite so far is a Motron moped tank. I actually like this tank a lot. I did buy a KDX250 snail pipe, cut it up and rearranged the bends to fit this frame. A shot in the dark to...

VJMC Custom & Modified show at Barber 2022

I've typically avoided the VJMC stuff for this very conversation. I went to an event a few years back on my CB750 chopper and I felt like a Goth chick at a Southern Baptist wedding.
