Finally getting back to build season. And finally got the nerve to drill and tack the threaded sockets that will mount the body work. Located the holes with a thin template and then bored out the holes with a hole saw. Made a temporary bracket to set the correct hole spacing to allow access for...

Taking a slight detour to recover the seat that came off the VStart650 Custom donor bike. Can anyone tell if that's a Corbin seat that I started with. It looks like other ones that I've found on ebay but there was no label anywhere.

Thanks for looking. The rear suspension travel is only about 3 inches but I want the profile of the rear fender that high just for the looks. I agree I don't want the rear fender to be out of proportion with the front wheel but I want the up and down curves from the tank to the seat the rear...

    Nice job!

Starting to take shape. I made the top profile and the side profile in full scale on the bike and developed the stations on paper. I only drew the end view so it needed a little fairing once I built up all the stations but I think I was close enough that a little trimming of a few stations...

I'm going with a subtle swoop at the tail. Here's a profile with some photoshop and pencil sketch added.

Getting ready to build the last big piece of bodywork, the rear fairing. I originally thought I'd go with the profile with the dashed line but now I'm liking the solid line more. Looking for your preference; dashed or solid line?

Thanks! Here it is finally on the bike. Full fairing on the rear is next.

Just about ready to close it up. It often becomes a game of just one more spot to raise or lower but I think I'm to the point where primer should smooth out the rest.

Starting to join the upper and lower halves. Not my favorite part but things are matching up okay. Tunnel will be trimmed to match the upper profile in front.

Returning to the tunnel for a bit. Probably should have done this first but I think it's ready to fit the two halves together.

Fitted the upper half on the frame for the first time.

Finally getting back to it. I feel like the top is coming together like I want it too. Lots of planishing to do. Next challenge after that is a cap depression and fit the top to the bottom.

Thanks for looking. I'm on pause for bit but hope to get rolling again later this fall with the tank and tail fairing.

Yes, the plans for the rear is a full fairing over the rear wheel. This is the best sketch I have for concept right now. The fender/fairing is planned to have the same body lines as you see on the tank. The body lines will start spaced fairly wide behind the seat and merge together at the tip...

Now on to the upper shell. First two pieces joined. Welded inside and out.

Forward mounts underway. These cups are plan B. Plan A was the mangled L shapes in the 5th frame. I had to anneal them several times to get them to fully conform the form but I'm happy with the way they came out.
