I just saw this now. Very proud of you for getting this done Matt. I'm not sure how you pulled it off but looks like you've succeeded where I couldn't bring them and so reasonably priced! Dying to pick your brain on the details.
Good call on the 750 bud. I was going to warn you part way through not to get something that guys have trouble finding parts for. I've looked at buying that CX500 cause I think the slanted cylinders look cool but half the bikes I see for sale are being bailed on cause guys cant find parts. No...
Payment sent bud. Also for 176 and 55 jetting + Canada shipping. Let me know if I short changed you at all. I was fighting off a polar bear while doing math.
I think that's WAY too much for a bike with a bad motor. Top end could mean that cam and followers are severely worn out. Pistons junk, cylinder walls need boring. Any number of things. I rebuilt mine and upgraded everything into a race motor so I don't know how much it costs to do on the cheap...
"We take great pride in our work to guarantee 100% of our customer's satisfaction..." Go back to them and quote their website. Tell them you're not satisfied and either want your money back or the rimes redone. Period. No bullshit about redone for less $$$. I'm writing a negative Google review...
Oh shit. Don't get me wrong. I love what you're doing with it. I just think that eventually there wont be a lot of classic stock bikes anymore with so many frames cut and modified and factory parts going to scrap yards. I cafe'd mine too but they were basket cases. I actually don't even like the...
I've got the same kind of pistons as you at 67.5mm. Was trying to figure out what jetting to use. So you're somewhat good with your current set up then?
I would consider TM's but 32's? I want to be able to keep it running at stop lights. lol. Or are 32TM's more functional than 32VM?
Just waiting on cam followers to come back from Megacycle and I'll be ready to use some carbs.
Good start bud! When I saw you put those pods on I said "Oh those will be coming off soon". If that bikes been sitting a while those carbs are probably gummed up. You'll want to rebuild those or at least clean them out. Also the forks are going to be hell to get off if you ever need to remove...
Just take the parts back to them and talk to the manager. Politely tell them you want them refinished or your money back. No business wants to have unsatisfied customers who spread negative word of mouth and may even appreciate you bringing it to their attention. Could have been a newb the owner...
