1949 Ford F-3 "old red truck"

And speak of the devil, marketplace saves the day again. @Deviant1 found a seller in Sarasota Florida with a used holley 390 for what ended up being $188 shipped. Sure beats $800 for a new one!

Same! After the f3 is done, I'm really wanting to go down that rabbit hole again lol

1949 Ford F-3 "old red truck"

That is really cool! From what I've read so far, Clifford 6=8 stuff is still really the "go to" performance equipment. If I had a bigger budget, and hadn't found the Offey "cheap" second hand, I would have run the Clifford dual weber down draft setup...

1949 Ford F-3 "old red truck"

I was pretty happy to get it. An old dude on a Facebook page offered it up and I grabbed it on the way to the Garage Brewed show in Cincinnati a few weeks back. You can still buy 2 variations of the intake to this day, a "C series" or a "dual Port". After looking at this one and trying to narrow...

1949 Ford F-3 "old red truck"

I've still been plugging away at the old girl, just nothing super exciting. Even so, why not throw up an update. I've been mostly been getting the engine ready to stab into the truck. I'll be taking it into the school and have the ag kids throw on a fresh coat of paint in the next couple...

    DR650 Cafe. Scratch Built Amelioration

I wish in all the talk I had just gone back and found these pictures to more clearly show what I am going for. This was a mockup of my old RD350 project (which of course @irk miller finished off in a fantastic fashion) These are more or less the proportions and style that I'm roughly shooting...

    DR650 Cafe. Scratch Built Amelioration

My current cad drawing has me at 24.5 deg rake, 3.73" trail and a 53" wheelbase (theoretically with the adjusters all the way foward/ shortest). This includes a drawn pivot to axle dimension of 19.5" where the same dimension on the KTM swinger is 22.5". The dr650 motor is fairly compact as far...

    DR650 Cafe. Scratch Built Amelioration

I think its a bit of a mix of alot of things, but part of this thing comes from riding dads buell, mixed with riding the bobber. I want something very compact that might be a bit twitchy for doing rowdy stuff with lots of torque. Though the style will be more cafe, the intended use will be more...

    DR650 Cafe. Scratch Built Amelioration

Still playing around on this thing a bit. I went ahead and bought a KTM duke390 swingarm off of ebay to give a try. I am going to do a bit more drawing up and figuring, but its almost 3" longer than what I had originally drawn up and figured, and Im a bit concerned that it is going to throw all...

Post a pic of your latest purchase

Nice. Not sure how I worked on bikes for as long as I did without mine. Also, welcome back. Haven't seen you around in a minute!

    DR650 Cafe. Scratch Built Amelioration

My original plan was to build a simple chromoly swingarm with a yamaha tz style design. I may still go that route as well...

    DR650 Cafe. Scratch Built Amelioration

Yeah, of course I am already stewing on other uses for the XL lump ;) I haven't decided on a swingarm yet. A big part of me is thinking about trying to adapt a swingarm from a KTM 390 duke. They are a neat trellis cast aluminum piece, and use a simple, non linkage type shock setup. Plus, I have...

    DR650 Cafe. Scratch Built Amelioration

Well, per the norm, a Hurco550 project has "changed directions" while still in its infant stages. The original plan, for over a year, was to build "this" project, but with another 1996+ dr650 lump like what I built my bobber around. I searched for a good while for one, but prices had gone a bit...

    DR650 Cafe. Scratch Built Amelioration

Hey man, I would absolutely be interested in the tensioners. Not sure if you have any other bits laying around, but I do know that the little piece for the auto decomp is broken as well and I need to track another one down. Its number 6 in this picture I think. If you had any of that around I'd...

2004 SV650 Neo Classic Cafe Fighter

That is what I was concerned about. I had gone back and forth on putting it there, but even looks aside, I didn't think that is a good place to put a battery on a street bike for longevity sake either, especially without a fairing being pelted by everything.

2004 SV650 Neo Classic Cafe Fighter

Haha thanks fellas. I didnt "hate" the first iteration with the aluminum, but it wouldve taken plenty to make it function right, and still possibly not even be any lighter than the stock unit. And I am lucky to have access to things like the fixturing tables, and theres always a good lesson on...

    1975 BMW R90/6 - Rocinante

Of all the things that I would try to save on a bike that has been sitting as long as this one, O.G. brake lines would not be one of them. I looked for my order conf and couldnt find it from speigler, but IIRC they would be quick to send you a quote if you fill in the info that Tim gave you on...

    1975 BMW R90/6 - Rocinante

Yep, I ordered mine at about an inch too short and ended up having to make a little standoff to get it to work. Tim ordered his right after mine with this correction.
