    '99 SV650 track rebuild

Its all wired up. I used knock-off Deutsch connectors so everything is water tight down here. Still need to make it neat and tidy but it runs and everything seams to work - except the battery. Brand new Shorai LFX-14. Battery was having trouble turning the engine over, charged it up seemed to...

    Make needle bearing bushings

I am replacing some needle bearings on a F650GS. the bushing are shot as well and need to be replaced. The bushings are $100 and have a 6 week lead time. I have a lathe and am considering making my own. What material should I use? Stressproof? 4140? mild steel and some case hardening using...

    '99 SV650 track rebuild

The way the other cables are running coupled with the battery position, makes it not ideal to run it down there. It gets real tight on packaging in that area and the cables are not super flexible

machined some block-offs for the temp sensor in the radiator, oil pressure switch, and neutral switch. I will make a block off for the fuel tank sensor when I drain it to paint it. I mounted all the electronics in one location. I've seen people put batteries here but never all the electrical...

    '99 SV650 track rebuild

I ended up going with Prismatic Powders "Mystic Lava" on the frame. It has some red and green flake in it and pops in the sun, I'm happy with how it looks. The shock has been rebuilt with a stiffer spring. All the major systems are mostly installed. I'm to the point where i need to start on the...

After being length shamed by Doug I shortened the can by 3". Had to remake the hanger because the shorter can threw the proportions off. Also finally got around to designing some branding and making a badge - magnesium dies for logo with 3D printed die for curve.

Technically I don't think you're supposed to mix and match cases as they are lined bored as a set. That being said it maybe possible - as long as everything spins freely and you have the correct oil clearances. You will need to plastiguage the trans shafts and crank to verify.

Here is Schumann listing for the head work. I didn't realize these CB350 heads did not use valve seals. he makes new valve guides to use valve seals. Might be a nice upgrade. If you contact him outside ebay you might get a better deal because your head is already blasted. Be wary of buying used...

No need to replace the seats. Your old valves should be OK as long as they are in spec and aren't bent. Get good valve seals. hard to tell in the photos, but if looks like you valve seats might have some cupping - check your valves as well. If thats the case I would pass it off to a machine...

    DR650 Cafe. Scratch Built Amelioration

I agree with you on the look of the longer arm - I only mentioned those other lengths because you said the intended use is a "street legal supermoto". Its interesting how supermotos are typically associated with quick nimble bikes yet their geometry is fairly relaxed and much longer than sport...

    DR650 Cafe. Scratch Built Amelioration

Supermotos typically have a longer wheel base, less rake, and more trail than sport bikes. 690 SMC R is 57.9”. 450 SMR is 57.8” Buell has some strange mojo going on that might be hard to duplicate beyond rake/trail/wheelbase. 52” wheelbase is extremely short - the KTM RC250GP is 52.7
