I know you don't want a front fender for that "cafe look" but please put at least a fork brace on that thing. Lowing it just made the bike more unstable and you've got a tensioner that's just going to make fork flex worse
cool video. next time just remove the top clamp - clip on will slide up, no need to remove the headlight, loosen up the lower clamps, or even raise the bike
just a tip - since' I've done this 4 times already this week.
funny story about the speedometer drive - a 3d modeler saw my bike on bikeboundblog and recreated it in 3d render (https://www.artstation.com/artwork/mqrOmy) They got a lot of details right (including the fucked up speedo drive position, which was that way just because I never cared to fix it)...
I suppose you use the cb550 triple?
turns out I can't use the xl350 triple I wanted to use.. it's WAY too narrow. I've put a ton of work into these things tho. so now I will have to find a triple that will work and do the same thing.
I'm not tall (hence the name) and no one will ever ride on this bike with me. The seat was suited for my riding style and position - I don't use rearsets, and I don't need to move back and forth on the seat. so it's actually perfect ;)
Yea I know i'll have to offset the right side caliper as that's how the originals are. Thanks for the shot! that will help. Did you have to skim the left side of the 360 hub? Looking at it, that seams like that's what i am going to have to do. I don't need the speedo as I am not using it, so if...
I plan to run dual discs but I will be using the CB360 front hub (modified). I don't want a 40 spoke wheel or 19's on this bike
The top clamp is press fit (cannot twist it by hand) that said.. I will most likely tap a hole, use an insert and run an 8mm set screw into the fork. That depends on...
Further Update.
im the spirit of continued improvement - and an abundance of parts. i've decided to upgrade the spindly noodle 33mm forks of the CB360 to BEEFY HULK HOGAN 35mm forks.
the process started with my other project, that had bent forks - I decided if I have to go with new forks, may...
found these nifty allen plugs - the top bolt for these external spring forks are too tall, meant to secure the top clamp in place above the fork. They are also 16x1.50 thread if anyone needs to know - same size as a BMW engine oil drain plug - so these types of bolts in all sorts of fancy ends...
13.2:1 compression isn't something to be scared of - just be sure you get a smooth complete burn of the fuel using the proper octane of fuel and you should be good.
my hot compression is 185~psi as well..
The original tank had some JB weld epoxy on the seams - I am pretty sure it's junk, it has a small dent in the top rear so I may just hang it from the rafters.
I have a plan to cap these forks off that might make people never want to consider wearing an open faced helmet again.
also, the...
make sure you service that damper and fill it - I didn't do mine at first, rode the bike quite a while... after about a year I decided to go through it... the difference was extreme
I wouldn't use the all-thread as it will play havoc with the allow lower engine case - especially since this looks like you're kicking this bike only... that lower bolt should be there
spent about 4 hours today on the top and bottom triple getting them cleaned up
SL350 top and bottoms so I can use the 35mm black bomber forks
I also cut off the steering lock cylinder and plan to use the mount as a headlight mount. There was no real easy way to remove the bosses on the...
Monday is shop day around here - Most of the engine parts are on their way to be vapor blasted. I've begun working on the internals of the forks to lower them "safely" and it's been pretty boring around here without much to do. So I've got a couple of concepts to work out. Any votes on who...
