I think thats normal. I checked my pics and it looks like mine does the same. Also any hit big enough to do that bend would show up and crumple the tube. You're good to go!

Pretty Sweet, I had a 78 GS 550. Things I liked: Great overall stance "look", really nice factory tailpiece (with a mini-trunk!), sweet star alloys, great bulletproof powerful engine. Things I didn't like, handled like a pig (just too long for nimble turning), bad electrical (but what vintage...

Wish I could help, I also heard about "the spacer trick" but never found anywhere that explained it. Ended up dropping my 76 XL 2" at the trees, but with that huge front wheel they never look very low. Maybe I'll swap on a CB front some day. Good Luck!
