Swap the hot wires just in case. I just put together my 79 cm400t, and confusingly enough i swear it changed a couple times lol. I actually had to run a separate wiring to the hot wire on the head light. I would have to look when i get home from work. I dont know if your wiring is the same but...

This is where i stand as of now. A lot of crap has happened the last few months to slow me down but i got the motor rebuilt to gaskets, it also needed a new shift shaft but got one cheap on ebay luckily. cleaned it up mildly for this summer hopefully over next winter i can really make her...

ok so i figured it out. kinda jumped the ball because i wanted to get it finished but also wanted to do it the absolute correct way the first time. I looked at some pics and figured it out.
