That looks fantastic. I highly appreciate the flat 6 replacing a flat 12 and a V4 replacing a V8, 100%. For big grins I imagine a BMW K bike or even one of the big boxers would also provide a very workable power plant for such a vehicle as well. (Of course, again, no reverse.) I'll admit...

    Here's something different - a modern bike! Tuareg 660

As long as you aren't doing anything stupid or obviously unsafe there isn't much to worry about. Stick to the Interstates and US highways and you'd be dealing mostly w/ state police or highway patrol. The days of "You in a heap O trouble, boy!" are pretty much gone.

Anybody working on a Suzuki GS400? (Maybe GS550/4cyl)

Not sure what you are typing in your messages, but this is what I'm seeing: Definitely looks like a [emoji6][emoji6][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]] or [emoji[emoji6]][emoji6][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]] to me. Great bikes, I’ve got a X[emoji6XX][emoji[emoji6XX]X[emoji6XX]] that I keep back east. Maybe I've...

Second look... might be a GS550 four cylinder. Sorry 'bout that.

Anybody working on a Suzuki GS400? (Maybe GS550/4cyl)

I happened across this while I was out this morning: https://content.auctionzip.com/listing/4020173/798589728_zm It's at a nearby auction house and set for auction starting at noon this coming Saturday, 29 Mar. It's listed as "Suzuki motorcycle parts" so I'm sure that means no title. I...

Yeah, I'd say! For that kind of savings I'd be making that trip as often as necessary.

    1975 BMW R90/6 - Rocinante

Not much to add but now that the "clean and reorganize the shop" project is almost complete I'm trying to get at other little jobs. Last fall I got that MC dolly from HF and made some modifications. I didn't like the idea of having the airhead stored for long periods on the side stand and the...

Dropped these off w/ the powder coat guy this morning: The exhaust heat shields have been w/ him since last Fall; he's been holding off, waiting for the crash bars. He was going to get in some powder that would handle the higher heat the heat shields will be exposed to. I'm hoping the bill...

Yeah, no need to bark up that tree :), I've had cornea transplants so I am VERY careful about eye protection. Things are very well under control and have been for years but while others might just get an inconvenient or painful injury I could lose my sight pretty easily because any kind of...

    1975 BMW R90/6 - Rocinante

Was just out messing w/ it a bit. One of the wire wheels I've got doesn't do too bad. I had tried a wire wheel in the bench grinder that didn't do too bad but was really slow. Probably if I'd turn it around to turn the wheel in the opposite direction I'd get a bit more "cut" out of it. The...

    BMW R90/6.. TAT G/S Tribute

Yeah, sometime last Fall I decided this Winter's project was going to be The Shop! Then came the shoulder replacement, then came the cold. Almost done now, but it's been like trying to put a size 13 foot into a size 9 boot. At least Levi's got a nice size 20 boot to work with!

Well, OK, as I look again it's less than 90% that I've got removed. (The other side has more shiny and less black.) They were both the same color when I started so the gray comes off. Maybe it's paint and the black is powder. If I weren't going to try a chemical I wonder if one of those flap...

I'm so "small time" here that the purchase of Klean Strip or Miles Gel would probably last the rest of my life! Thanx for the info, though, both of you! Looks like I'm gunna drag them over to @Hurco550 's in a few days and pirate a little of his Loctite stuff. One of the bars is done 90% so...

Wouldn't want to use up all your stuff, but if it's a matter of spray on and wipe off it shouldn't take much.

I need advice on removing powder coat. A while back I got a pair of crash bars (I believe they are Krauser) from the Lithopolis BMW auctions. There were three, one oddball that wasn't good anyway and a solid pair. They are covered in what seems to be a gray powder coat that my PC guy says has...

Let me introduce myself: Kawasaki Kz400D 1975

@Maritime's suggestion may still be of some help to you. If you check out Murray's Carbs to see what he's selling as the prime setup for the KZ400, that might help you decide which size of the three you have would be best.
