    Patman's '80 CB750C

I've gotten the rear shocks removed from the bike, as well as the front forks. All that's left on the frame now is the engine, and swingarm. First component I dove into was the forks. Using a hex head screw and some vice grips I was able to get the top bolt off, and disassemble the main...

    Patman's '80 CB750C

Thanks for tip about the aircraft paint stripper. I'll see if I can't hunt some down this week. As for the springs in the rear shocks, I assumed that the shocks were under compression as they currently sit on my bike, and that in order to remove them from the frame the springs would need to be...

    Patman's '80 CB750C

Howdy y'all. I've been working on disassembling what I have. Fortunately, for the move, I had already removed the tank, front and rear wheels, exhaust, and handle bars. With the tank I took off the gas cap and the Honda wings on each side of the tank, and sprayed the tank down with a citrus...

    Patman's '80 CB750C

Hello everyone! This is my first documentation of a project bike. I've never done this before so any feedback, constructive criticism, suggestions, etc would be greatly appreciated! During the summer of 2012 I was scouring Craigslist for bikes. I didn't have a lot of dough and was looking for...

    Clubman Bar 7/8"

I couldn't tell you for sure if they fit your bike, as I've never owned a CB360 before. I googled it and it looks like the CB360 takes a 7/8" bar. I'd recommend looking it up in your manual if you have one, or measuring your existing bars or bracket. It should be fairly easy to tell. I believe...

    Clubman Bar 7/8"

How does $30 shipped sound? I bought these about a year ago. They work just fine and are in great shape. I'm selling because I replaced them with lower bars. Chromed. I have since lost the plastic end caps. Located in Rochester, NY.

Simple Green and my poor carburetor

I could be wrong, but I believe cast components are more of a zinc alloy. I had put other aluminum components in that came out really beautiful with no sort of corrosion.

Simple Green and my poor carburetor

The non-casting parts in the solution, fasteners, some brass bits, and machined aluminum, do look brand new. The solution did a wondrous job. Better than a pin-sol soak I was tried, original sent of course.

'80 CB750 Carb Vacuum Slide Holes - HELP!

Thanks all. I ended up drilling them all to be identical.

Simple Green and my poor carburetor

I decided this past weekend that I would do a seriously cleaning and rebuild of my carburetors. I heard from other forums of the wonders of simple green. 50% water, 50% Simple Green, 24 hours and your carbs will look like new....or that's what they said. All my castings came out blackened...

    Hold phone as speedo

I had tried this with an Otterbox (I think) case and some packaging tape. The mount worked out just fine but the free app I used was terrible. It would say things like I'm going 40 when waiting at a light and 0 when I was cruising around 55 for several minutes. It was a piece of junk and didn't...

'80 CB750 Carb Vacuum Slide Holes - HELP!

Here is a shot of all four. You can see the one in question compared to the others. Also the holes of this funny one are smaller that those of the other slides.

'80 CB750 Carb Vacuum Slide Holes - HELP!

I've been taking my carburetors apart and putting them back on quite a bit over the past year, and for the first time, I noticed that one of the slides has only two holes as opposed to all the others that have 3 (See image). The keyway (seen on the left side of this slide) is also on the...

    1980 CB750 Fueling Question - Popping

I should have also mentioned that this vigorous popping from the right exhaust occurred even with the stock airbox. So the pod filters are not the problem though, of course do have an effect. I do fully understand the whole deal with the pod filters. I do. As a mechanical engineer myself, I...

    1980 CB750 Fueling Question - Popping

Hey Everyone, I'm pretty inexperienced with the hole fixing up a motorcycle, so bear with me. The bike is a 1980 Honda CB750C. I bought it off craigslist, and it had been "modified" and "fixed" by previous owners. I bought it to ride and learn how to fix up and take care of. So on to the...

Bad stator? need a little help

I've got a '81 Honda CB750 and what I know about this comes from this bike, so my advice might be slightly off from what is actually going on with your bike, but anyways here it goes... So from the alternator, if it is a electromagnet and not using permanent magnets, then there will be a wire...

    cb450 compression

Pour like a teaspoon of oil into the right cylinder, turn the crank a few times, and test its compression again. If you get a rise in compression then you need to replace the rings in that cylinder. If not, then I believe your valves aren't seating correctly.

    Tampa Bay, Florida!!!!

I feel your pain! I'm from Fort Myers, but I live mostly in Rochester, NY finishing up a mechanical engineering degree. The closest I came to meeting a fellow rocker was a kid who helped me out when I was broken down on the side of the road. He said he owned a couple cafes and none of his bikes...
