Still waiting on some parts from the US: piston, cam, etc. They should arrive in a few weeks time.
Until then I have a bit of personal stuff to work out, but don't worry havn't forgotten about this project. Ordered 10kg of regular sodium bicarbonate to blast the old grime, oil and paint off the...
Nice detective work, it's great to be able to outfit the bike with what engine it was intended.
If you still intend on using it for grass racing I'd keep some ride height, but other than that a reduction in ride height would be advantageous for handling.
If you want a nicer tone, be the better example. Isn't that what mother always used to say..
Dotheton.com has been and still is the driving force behind the Neo-café racer movement, gotta be pretty proud about that right?
A simple Dremel with a burr bit and a steady hand. Some have suggested you could even do the job when the head is on the bike; if you stuff paper towels into the valve seats and spray some shaving foam over to catch the shavings.
Torque it does have, that's the most fun thing about the Savage it just pulls from about 3000 rpm up to 5000 rpm. But hey, your SR thumper should pull pretty decently too right? :D
The stock carb is set extremely lean to meet emissions. The pilot mixture screw is even capped off from the...
It was cheap. I realize now that the weird oem spoke pattern might cause trouble later on in the process. Will take a look at Central wheel, came across them a while back but didn't know anyone who have had any experience with them, but seems after all they might be worth a look.
Thanks man...
Got the motor out today and opened it up to get the cam off to be re-profiled and the barrel off to get bored out. It's clear that although run intermittently it was well cared for. No major signs of friction modifiers used in the oil inside the casing. The rocker faces still have their original...
The Kawa 750 2-strokes can be fire breathing monsters if set up right. Price wise €450-500 for the engine and carbs would be okay, but make sure all the bits are there, you don't want to get stuck on an engine with an empty button end.
17's huh, that explains the wide front! Certainly pulls it off and fits with the Supermoto theme. There's light ahead still.
BTW thanks for the motivational pic ;)
It's almost weird how on an ICE bike you hardly ever hear the chain, but on an electric it really dominates. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to hear how well it rides.
