I got a little jealous of a couple very good CX builds I've seen come up in the past few months, and was inspired to get back on my project. I was a little side tracked on a '67 CL90 project which is now sold. Here's the old post: http://dotheton.com/index.php?topic=7897.0
I figured I'd just...
Picked up a '67 CL90. I tore down the carb, got it cleaned up, etc. Now, the bike starts on the first kick, and idles steadily (for about 5-10 seconds). THEN THE RPM'S SHOOT UP INSANELY FAST and I'm forced to cut the power (before any major damage happens). It didn't do this before the carb...
I want to fabricate a box that will get mounted underneath my gearbox where my collector/H-pipe used to be. My question is, should I be concerned with heat from the mufflers or anything else?
Here's an old side shot. You can see the gap where the exhaust collector used to be.

Can this method be used for other parts? Since the 1st step of a rebuild is typically washing out years (or decades) of grime, this seems like a great method for saving time and getting into the hard-to-reach areas.
I tested it on a spare set of carbs for my cx500 after seeing how well it...
Are there any negative affects by routing the crankcase breather tube(s) directly into the pod filters (or essentially right back into the intake manifold)? That is, instead of attaching a separate crankcase breather tube filter. Could it cause the bike to run too lean or rich? Thanks.
This may have been asked before, but is it against the law to remove the front and rear fender (more concerned about the front actually)? I live in California and haven't found anything (via good ol' google search) that says you can't remove the front fender.
After seeing this in another post...
I decided to forego (for now) the CB350 project I had going and start on an '81 CX500 I picked up as a birthday gift to myself. I put together a collage (that serves as my computer desktop) of a few pictures showing 1) how I got the bike, 2) how it sits as of right now, and 3-4) my...
Time to post a bit about the project (which actually started in October 2007)
Here's how it came:

Hello Everyone...I've been following this forum for quite a while now, but never got around to posting anything about my project. I purchased this 1971 CB350 Twin back in October 2007 and have been tinkering here and there whenever I get a chance. Paid $0 for the bike and the previous owner...
